Re: What will baseball do now?
it was a cream, not a pill or shot. yes it was a sorry execuse but espn blew that cream way out of porportion. steroids dont help you hit a fastball or curveball, but it does help it travel obivously. he was the greatest hitter to ever live and its too bad his legacy will be tarnished becuz of this and if he is guilty, its a crying shame cuz he was a helluva ballplayer before he took them

Re: What will baseball do now?
A couple of days ago there was a big article in the sports section of the Sun paper about this. Several people thought that all the atheletes should be stripped of thier medals because they were using "performance-enhancing" drugs. But a doctor stepped in and said what we all know, "Steroids don't make you a better baseball player or a better athelete. What they do in fact is increase muscle mass and increase quicker recovery time." He quoted a 1996 study by a doctor named Stern or Sterner who gave testosterone shots once a week for 10 weeks to a group of men who did not exercise. At the end of the ten weeks, all of them gained muscle mass without even working out.
Ed McCain was on Today this morning saying he wasn't going to comment on whether Bonds knew he was taking steroids but he basically implied that he was a dummy if he didn't. He also said he didn't care if an athelete "messed his body up" but didn't want high schoolers thinking steroids were the only way you could be a great athlete. What athelete is messed up from taking steroids??? Lyle Azados death was not because of steroid use as several docs pointed out. There has never been any proof that steroids and his death had anything to do with each other.
My point is this: There are far too may things going on in the world today for the government to be worrying whether grown, educated people, let alone atheletes are using steroids. How bout worrying about all the heroin, and crack addicts. The ones that break into your car at night and steal your stereo so they can feed the addiction. I betcha your not doing that!!!
Sorry to ramble on about this, but it really irks me when the media and government step into an arena they just aren't educated on....Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated..
