  • Sell my car and buy a skiboat?

What do you guys think? Should I do it?
The car (1970 mustang Grande), has been my baby. Bought it as a foolish teenager with dreams of "fixing it up". And well, I guess they wen't foolish dreams as I did restore it to a beautiful car. Sooooo much blood sweet and tears went into it, I spend many a day dreaming about this car and how I'd fix it up. I'm very proud of it..

HOWEVER! I tend not to drive it much because it's parked all winter, and only goes out in nice weather. I have another car I drive to work etc. And when I do take it out..I can't help but stress out about it sitting in the parking lot etc.

Plus, I've been getting more and more into my truck and 4x4ing. The truck seems like more fun because I can hack away at it without worrying about "screwing it up". And just go out and spend a day mudding or rock crawling/exploreing.

So here's the problem...3 vehicles.. only 1 of me. It's costing me an arm and a leg to insure all 3 vehicles. And since I want to buy a house this spring, money is tight.

So here's one idea I came up with.. sell the mustang and get a skiboat. No insurance to worry about.

But what do you guys think? It'd break my heart to sell my baby. Plus I hear that alot of people buy a boat, use it for the first year or 2 and then sorta loose interest. Maybe I should sell it to help pay for the house?

Only thing I know is that it'll kill me to sell it. You guys have no idea the personal attachment I have to this car. The countless hours dreaming of cruising around in it and racing camaro's. The fact that I'd eat Mac & Cheese every night for 2 weeks so I could pay for the next part needed in the restoration. And when I had no money to buy parts, I'd just sit behind the wheel....

I think I answered my own question...I'll hate myself if I sell it...

I live in one of the best climates in Canada. But your correct, there's only about 4 months of the year I could use it. With the car, I can insure it for 7 or 8 months.

i would rather have the car.... boats are a dime a dozen and you can get one at any point down the line.....

that car is one of a kind and when its gone its gone.

what everyone says is true.....but living in alabama when its only cold for 3 months out of the year makes a difference too. we ski all year long almost.

For sure buy the boat. I currently have an 2000 Elite. In the summer I spend about 4 days a week on the lake (part time wakeboard instructor)

For me there is nothing better than time on the boat.
