  • Going to the track tonight

Taking my buddies 90 Talon Turbo AWD to the track.

It has Filter, manual boost controller (18 PSI), 3" DP, 3" Midpipe, 3" Cat Back, Mitsu Evo 8 turbo manifold hogged out by yours truley, 255lph fuel pump. 5 Gallons of Cam2 I think thats it. Looking to go 12.9 but anything under 13.3 would be great. The car has 184K miles on it and motor has 45K. Transfer case, tranny has 184K on it. He picked the car up for 1300 with filter and manual boost controller. So for 2200 bux, he may have a 12 sec car.

Let us know how it goes.

Arn't the DSM's known for tranny/transfercase problems? I'm surprised it's lasted this long. Previous owner must have been good to it..

Tranfer case and transmission are shot. Both leak oil and tranny is real finicky about how you shift.

      Well see

Eww... make sure you've got a way to get it home.

AWD high boost launches will probably murder that thing. Especially if your putting some sticky tires under it. But damn what a rush!

        Wish I could join you...

Talon went a best of a 13.3 and backed it up with another 13.3 with a 1.8 60' time. Not bad. Theres was a Supra there last night that went 10.25 @ 140.50. And then drove home.

            I love it

those DSM's can crank out some good 1/4 mile times with pretty simple mods. i have a friend with a 91 (i think) laser turbo... its a shitbox and ran 13.4 with only a few mods

they have 1 HUGE advantage over lets say my 71 442... the traction on awd is ridiculous! 500hp doesnt mean shit if you cant get it to stick to the ground. those things can be launched at like 4000rpm and stick like glue with shitty street tires.

Those cars are so fun! My buddy just bought one for $800 that didn't run. A module later he was up and running. Put a hardware store boost controller on it, and it 330 at the wheels (his is not AWD). He did a turbo upgrade, and it ran great till a vacuum line came off and toasted the motor. Car's for sale for $500 now, new turbo and all!!
