Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced the nomination of Air Force Gen. Lori Robinson to lead the U.S. Northern Command Friday, making her the first female combatant commander if confirmed by the Senate.

in their haste to find women to fill positions in the military i have to wonder using law of averages. if 1% of the military combat forces are men it seems tapping a women for a combat commander is less for effectiveness but for political correctness. not that a woman cannot command but because if you have a pool of 1,000 qualified men and 10 women there most certainly could be a woman with greater experience and know how but not likely.

I am all for equality but why are people not able to understand that there is a difference between men and women? does the fact that she has a vagina make her more qualified for the job over the 1,000 men? seems to me this is a slap in the face to women choosing due to PC pressure and not for merit.

maybe she will do an incredible job. it is not like she will be in actual combat where a 130# woman is a liability. how is she supposed to pull a 200# man to safety? i am not sexist, just a realist.
