Faster yes - much faster was probably an overstatement until you factor in price difference. you get a lot more bang for the buck with AMD.
The burden of originality is one that most people don't want to accept. They'd rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they are suppose to like, what they're suppose to buy, and what they're suppose to laugh at. You have Beavis and Butthead telling you what music you're allowed to like and not like, and you've got sitcoms that have canned laughter that lets you know when to laugh if you're too stupid to know when the joke is. People are too lazy and too stupid to think for themselves because America has raised them that way.

Looks pretty even to me, AMD does appear to have a slight performance advantage.
RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.

EVEN if the speed is even.... AMD has the advantage b/c they are so much cheaper than Intel...

They are great processors for the price. Great for a home computer used to post on fitness boards. But, there are reasons why Intel still does, and probably always will, dominate the market when it comes to top notch machines that MUST run flawlessly for an extended period of time - like servers in a large corporate environment. AMD keeps the price down by skimping on "little" things - like circuitry that tells the CPU to shutdown if it gets too hot - ever see an AMD chop get hot? They MELT in less than 1/2 second - an Intel chip will start skipping clock cycles and, if hot enough shut itself down.

I've got a intel 3.06 ghz ... and it definitely outperformed the athlon 2400 that i had before ...

but the athlon 3000 is only 2.16 ghz, and that bugs me ...

                  Intel Pentium 4 / 3.06GHz 512k 478 Pin Processor HT Technology 533 MHz FSB Retail $383

                  Price is from newegg.com

I use to be a huge AMD fan but Intel has stepped it up a notch and has my business.

I gor really sick of AMD paper launching processors that never came to be or are over a year late....
