This may seem strange but I'm so grateful for being sober and having fun doing it....i don't do any mind-altering substances (i view hormones differently lol) and I never thought I could enjoy life! But I am very satisfied and grateful today....and my mother got to see me succeed before she passed

That's awesome your mom got to see you get sober. So many people never make it. I'm in the same boat as you brother and there is rarely a day that goes by that I'm not grateful for sobriety.
