oh man these are all so great! So much I forgot about. And the school lunches! Yes! The rice that tasted like paste! and the paste that tasted like paste! And the government blocks of cheese- yeah, my childhood had some government cheese in it. it was pretty good. And I remember my mom would tell me to go out and "pick my switch" off the tree. If you didn't pick one big enough she would go out and get a good one and really bust your ass with it.
and for the ladies...strawberry shortcake and friends. mmmmm they smelled so good
i remember being tough. dodge ball. jumping bikes over home made ramps, smear the queer, tackle the man with the ball, king of the hill.
dodge ball has become a sissy game. one team starts with the balls while the other team runs around. they yell stop and roll the ball softly on the ground at the other team who is stationary.
smear the queer, OMG! people would freak out seeing kids smashing one another. bloody noses and such but all of them smiling and laughing and patting each other on the back after we were done. nobody shot up schools or movie theaters back then and did not use ritalin or stuff like that. a good whooping fixed most cases of ADHD.
kids are pussies now. i am glad my son boxes. teaches to work through discomfort. kids are so used to being comfortable that they cannot face adversity and quit.
went fishing friday night. 2 coworkers came with their kids. one boy was 12 and was scared to take a fish off the hook. he freaked out when we cleaned them
"SHIAT BIOTCH, thats a big ass!"

I can remember trips to the local pizzeria as a kid with my mom and friends in Queens , NY . I call it the local treat because it is .I use to really like the Italian ice afterwards . My mom getting me 2 hotdogs from vendors in the street for lunch . The awesome parties my family threw in our basement during the holidays . I can remember there was a bar down there and all the food , especially Italian pastries . Collecting a bunch of money for the holidays and my birthday . Trips to the movie theater and beach , McDonald's shakes that were so thick you could barely suck it up with a straw . Going to the local mall to buy clothes , cassette tapes , renting VHS movies from the local video rental . There were no cell phones , HD TV and accessories , cd's until I was a sophomore in high school or DVD'S until 11, 12 years ago . We still found a way to enjoy life and a lot of those times are all but gone .
