Re: Lawmakers urge administration to take tougher stance against NK threats

The circuitous route of North Korean diplomacy, and its pattern of issuing threats to seek reward is not new to those who grew up studying Asian history, or on someone who grew up in Asia ( Obama in Indonesia).

It hasn't been lost to us why Pyongyang is doing this now This year marks the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War. Remember, they threatened to leave it ahead of the 40th anniversary and they left that treaty on the 50th anniversary. Symbolism matters to us Asians. I'm pretty sure Pyonyang may be trying to replace the armistice with something else.
He wants to force us back to the negotiating table. Watch, it won't be discuss North Korea’s missile and nuclear programs.

There can be no experiments in economic opening, not even minor adjustments in social policies, so long as the technical state of war remains, a replacement would not transform N.K into a open economy we chinese think Pyongang does see an opportunity to retain power and reduce its excessive dependence on my home country, China.

Although Obama sucks at Middle eastern politics his childhood upbringing in Indonesia seems to have given him an Asian understanding on how we think.
