    Well, it's finally happened ...

i'm having to put my maltese down tomorrow ...

he's had congenitive heart failure which has led to severe edema of the pulmonary tracts, and he just can't function anymore ...

He's 7 years old, and he's been a great puppy, but he just has been struggling since last summer ...

My parents say he's struggling to even move around and has to keep his head elevated to breathe, so i'm going home early tomorrow and i have to take him to the vet ...

It's been my girl's dog forever, but i've taken care of him constantly since i started school ...

So now i have to get a new maltese to try to replace him if that's possible ...

    I'm gonna miss casper ...

the dog has been huge for a couple months, since the heart isn't capable of pumping the blood effectively anymore ... and it's been a pain to spend 300$ every 3 weeks or so to have the drainage removed ...

so i'm just happy he won't be suffering anymore ... he was fine, just sluggish up to this point, but if he can't be comfortable at all, i'd rather see him go and not suffer ...

Sorry for CJ, I know how you feel, I've done it three times already.
It is possible to replace him, not in your heart but with another companion who you will love and care for. Best of luck to you, I know how hard this is.
