Re: Fox News, Palin part ways

I think Fox News is trying to eliminate hard core conservatives and Libertarians who don't always agree with the conservative side of the mainstream view that Fox supports. Glenn Beck's departure (whether voluntary or not), followed by Judge Napolitano's show getting cancelled was the beginning of it. I'm quite surprised Stossel still has a show. Palin's departure was no surprise. I don't think the Republican Party wants to have anything to do with her due to the left hating her so badly. The right will sell out and rebuild their reputation in an attempt to win back some of the independents that voted for Obama or stayed home. I think this was the case with Glenn Beck too. He is not even on the talk radio stations anymore out west where I am. Fox and mainstream conservative media outlasts are cutting all ties with those individuals that the left wing media despises. In Napolitano's case, he is an outspoken true Libertarian that calls out the left and the right so it's easy to see why his show was cut. The right wing media doesn't even seem to care how many supporters those individuals have.

Palin is an absolute joke! There are some great conservative thinkers and politicians, palin is not one of them!
She is an embarrassment to any conservative trying to prove them self as having the ability to actually think.
Glen beck is just a crazy religious fanatic.

If the republicans want to have any chance of winning any election, they've got to distance themselves from lunatics like her.

You helped reinforce my point precisely. Still, there are a lot of conservatives that like Beck and Palin. But both parties have their extreme wackos. The left has everyone on MSNBC and a few on CNN but the mainstream media doesn't attack them since they are on their side. None of it bothers me because I don't support either party. I stick to my principles which are directly aligned with the Austrian school of economics, thus making me an Austro-Libertarian. Though I am a fan of Judge Napolitano, whom tends to agree with the Austrian school and even writes regularly for them. But I do enjoy watching some news talking heads, primarily ones on Fox since I can't very well stomach the other networks. But as far as the Republicans winning an election, it is much too early to know how or if they will pull it off next time. It mostly depends on how the economy performs and less on who has a political commentator job on Fox. I believe we will have a much worse recession during Obama's second term, one that has been waiting to occur since 2010. Whether it is triggered by a massive student loan default, the bond market collapsing, Obamacare related mass business shutdowns and layoffs, interest rate hikes, etc, or a combination of several large scale problems, only time will tell, but in my opinion it is inevitable and would have happened even if Romney would have won. What we won't know until 2016 is how voters will perceive another recession and if they will buy into the claim that it is a result from the policies of Bush prior to 2008 or it they will finally open their eyes and turn on their brains to realize the policies for the last 4 years have made matters worse.

This was also what I meant about Palin and Beck. They are powerful people in terms of the number of supporters they have, but the MSM goes out of their way to destroy them. Palin is not that bad imo, it is more the left's hatred of her that has fueled such animosity toward her. But you make a good point about Biden. He has to be the biggest goofball politician in our lifetime, or at least VP. Yet, he gets away with everything because the left despises him. It is extremely unfair but there is nothing that can be done about it.

Repubs have lost 6 out if 7 of the last popular votes. This last election was the first time a president was re elected w unemployment rates so high.
Repubs are losing because of their whacked social views. Times are changing and they're out of sync socially. As long as they demean Latinos, are pro life, anti science, and anti women rights, they'll continue to lose every ejection. Even if they're correct on the economy.

Palin may have good values that conservatives agree with, she's just a very stupid person and not capable of running a nation.
There are plenty of conservatives w the same values who are actually smart people.

unfortunately, even if you're correct, someone with social values like hers is never going to get elected. The electorate is changing rapidly and if repubs don't adapt, they're in for a terrible time. Romney lost pretty much every section of the electorate except old white men. He lost latinos, asians, women, young, and blacks, and most of these groups are only growing. As more old white conservative men die off, the repubs don't stand a chance.

Smart conservatives know this, that is why guys like paul ryan are telling conservatives to shut up about immigration, gay marriage and abortion. Guys like rush limbaugh and glen beck with their hatred leave a bad taste in the mouth of the people that make up most of the electorate.

I'm not even taking a stance, I'm merely pointing out that even if a republican has the best fiscal policies, nobody is going to vote for him if he's pro life, anti gay marriage, anti immigration reform, and anti women's rights. People vote based on social values more then they do fiscal policies.

We need a libertarian, not a republican.

rush was instrumental in turning women against republicans because of his slut comment because a women uses contraceptives. I understand he's just a talking head, but for most, he represents republicans and when he speaks like that, people associate him with all republicans.

Rush is constantly spewing hatred. He's the one who was fighting for keeping drug addicts in jail for life, only to be caught using prescription drugs illegally lol. Glen Beck is a psycho mormon who is so out of touch with people that he also turns people off of republicans.

I actually have alot of respect for some conservatives, but guys like them make the party look very bad, and they have big mouths.

Like I said, conservative social values are bringing them down, do you not agree with that? Gay marriage is now accepted by a majority of Americans, so is pro choice, so is immigration reform, and so is women's reproductive rights. all of these issues republicans are in the minority, and it's a shrinking minority. Latinos will soon be the majority race in america and once our young generation gets older and old white bigots die off, social conservatives stand no chance. These are facts.

I understand some fundamentally don't accept abortion or the other issues listed, but at some point you're got to come to grips with the fact that you are a minority in a democracy and if you don't adapt your views, you'll never get elected. Smart conservatives acknowledged this after the election, and are scrambling to do something about it.

I understand but that's your opinion. Why does everyone jump on rush for one comment on a liberal women but bill maher can call Palin a **** and a ***** and nothing is said and no one calls for a boycott on his show?

Are conservatives held to higher standard than liberals?

Should we just stand by and let ourselves be attacked and not defend our selves?

I hate politics b/c there is no win a on either side of the argument. I just wish the media would be fair on both sides
