California bullet train could face hurdles despite lawmaker approval
After clearing a major legislative hurdle, California's proposed bullet train between Los Angeles and San Francisco still faces obstacles-including lawsuits and uncertainties over future funding-that could delay it for years.

While i do agree that the transportation system needs upgrading, starting in three central valley is a complete waste of time. Only reason it was proposed to start there was to get federal money.
Ooh, look u can go from Fresno to corcoran to Bakersfield.
Re: California bullet train could face hurdles despite lawmaker approval
They are supposed to start building one here in Vegas to Victorville, CA too. What a waste. If there was enough demand for one then the private market would have already built it. A lot of people simply don't understand how a market economy works. I'd say we could look at Amtrak to have an idea of how much profit the trains will generate. Amtrak has lost billions of dollars ever year since the government took over. I decided to look into the company that is supposed to build the one in Vegas going to CA and sure enough just as I suspected they have never built a single train. This is another case of politicians hooking up their donors and friends with a multibillion dollar contract that will put million in the pockets of the owners. Also, the money will all have to be borrowed from the state government. Now what kind of private company has to do that? I'd bet the kind that will fail and has never had much if any success in its past. A good company would put up there own money and secure the rest in business loans from banks or through the sell of junk bonds. Not the case here of course.
