  • Scientologist?

Just thought I would start another religious thread.

    Any of you guys scientologist?

I went to a Scientology church once (97') - I spent around 5 hours there filling out personality tests, IQ tests and watching videos.

Then to further your Scientology experience you had to start going to classes, which cost money. I think the first class cost like $35 dollars and it was for two evenings. Then your next class cost something like $65 for two evenings, it was never ending classes. I felt like I was at a used car dealership. So I never went back, but was curious.

So in short I was there for 5 hours and couldn't tell you anything more about scientology after I left.

Pro's & Cons of Scientology as "eye" see it.

In general there stuff is pretty good because one of their basis is to eliminate "ego control" . And if you know anything about human psychology the ego is one nasty mofa, and we all deal with it on different levels.

Downside is that they beat that ego thing to death like you constantly have to battle it and do more to get better, ala, all the classes. When again psychology proves once you tame the ego you're pretty much done.

They believe in other stuff and some of it IMHO opinion is kind of wacky. All in all though they've probably done ten times more good than bad, like most things some people get zealous and force their believes on others, which most times is not an effective way to communicate.

One of the reasons why you see lots of "stars" into scientology is because of ridding the "ego" , when you have ego issues and everyone wants a piece of you it can become overwhelming and lead to other releases for that stress such as excessive drugs, drinking and sex.

Catholic here, and it seems you got away cheap with these guys.
We are told to "tithe" (I think that's it) 10% of our yearly earnings to the church. Part of my problem is the church spends like $400,000 for an entrance and parking lot repaving, I'd rather see it go to a needy or homeless family instead. Just my .02

Yea, that tithing thing feels like a religious tax. My wife pays it every week, and I just hate it. Wait, does that sound bad?

Religion is still to this day the most horrible thing that man has ever invented.
The burden of originality is one that most people don't want to accept. They'd rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they are suppose to like, what they're suppose to buy, and what they're suppose to laugh at. You have Beavis and Butthead telling you what music you're allowed to like and not like, and you've got sitcoms that have canned laughter that lets you know when to laugh if you're too stupid to know when the joke is. People are too lazy and too stupid to think for themselves because America has raised them that way.

people are sheep, they are looking anywhere and everywhere for a reason to believe things happen for a reason.
