Re: over 40 club , male/ female discussion.

i have more energy than friends in my age bracket. i look better, am stronger, and over-all happier to tell the truth....but after i ripped my tricep tendon a few months ago i'm thinking i might have to approach this from a defferent angle now....we'll see. i constantly get my friends wanting nutrition and excersize advice (really, all ages) but its rare one sticks with it.

Hey Unclem, great to see you here bro! Ill be 48 this year. Been on Hrt for a little over a year. Been cycling on an off for quite some time. Always striving for more growth, but sometimes life gets in the way, and sometimes can't train as often as I would like.
But I'm still big enough to scare the shit out of daughters boyfriends! Lmao!

i dont do BB anymore but i can tell a difference in ability to recover after training as to when i was young. the high impact stuff i do now wrecks my joints and i have to baby them so they dont hurt so bad. i also have trouble keeping up with the young guys at the camp. oh and speed has defiantly decreased. still have power though

getting old sucks although i regularly have people tell me i look to be in my early to mid 30s!

I am nearing 44. I feel that I look pretty good for my age and noone ever guesses that I am in my 40's. I have encountered more injuries though, in my 40's. My body doesn't always feel so great but it doesn't shoe on the outside. I am definitely stronger physically, and mentally, than I was when I was in my 20's.

I simply do it for myself and how it makes me feel, when I see my friends and people I went to school with it makes me feel even better. So many don't take care of themselves at all and look like crap. It,s just something I enjoy and a lifestyle I have chosen to follow. I don't lift to be huge, just to stay fit and strong. I need a lot more warm up sets to keep from hurting my joints but that's no big deal. Hopefully it will improve my overall health as I continue to get older.

Working out. Its the fountain of youth.
I can tell if I am in shape or out of shape by how fast I can sprint. I have a field here where I go out and sprint, and if I feel like I am carrying a fridge on my back, then I know I have some work to do..LOL...When I am loose and fluid and strong, I feel like Usain Bolt when I am sprinting..LOL...You all know what I mean

I'll be 50 this year and I've already had 4 (3 left/1 right) knee repairs, one rotator cuff repair, bicep sprangs, and currently my other shoulder is injured, hoping that it's not another rotator cuff tear. Two months ago, I joined Team Mendy's PL team and don't have any intentions on quitting the weights anytime soon.

How do you all feel when you wake up in the morning?
I know a lot of people who say they are just aching, sore and can hardly move when they get up in the morning. Takes them a while to get moving. These are folks in their 30s and 40s. I suppose some of it could be due to occupational factors.

I turned 54 this past November. I am in the gym 6 days a week. I refuse to give up on my strength and size. Sure there are some aches and pains, but nothing I can't live with. It seems the same aches and pains have been around as long as I can remeber.
There are certain exercises I have givenn up, such as squats and heavy deadlifts, kind of hard to do when you have 2 disks that are pretty close to being shot. But I have found ways around them and keep trying to make gains.
Push it, Pull it, Rack it. Repeat untill wide!!

Take nothing I say as serious, What do I know, I sell water!!

It's doing wonders for me ! I also do Open Hand Kempo and Just started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Im still agile (probally better) and I look and feel better than I did twenty-something years ago. I workout/martial arts probally six time a week (gotta take a day off to fish or hike) because I can. I have energy and the strength to do all that, thanks to taking care of myself the best I can. Those words are true "At least I have my health and the balls to make a difference".
