I been teaching him safety with a BB gun. And watching him with that is why I say he isn't quite there yet. teaching them not to cover a person when not shooting even with an unloaded gun is important. bb, airsoft great starters. positive reinforcement works best IMO. praise them when they check for safety and keep the gun pointed safe at all times.
