They're pretty cool. There's a kingfisher that lives in or near the river gully near my cabin.
That thing is just amazeing! It's got to have at least a 6' wingspan. You can hear the whoosh..whoosh..whoosh sound as he flys away. I think he likes fishing in the river there.
Damn thing scares me all the time! Have to walk by this gully to get to the cabin. I swear when he takes off, his wings nearly touch each side of the gully.
Are you sure that it is a Kingfisher? Most of them are around 11 inches long. The biggest is 20 inches, which means that they have a small wingspan.
