Don't know if this belongs here or not but please move if it doesn't. Just got back from the doctors. For the last two weeks, my fingertips have been numb and my grip very weak. I was working around the house and had something go in my back (or so I thought). After X-rays, doctor tells me I have narrowed spaces in C1 and C2 vertebrae - top two of neck area, not back. I will go for an MRI in a day or two to confirm. He says this is somewhat a function of age and me weightlifting. Right now I can not do one pullup or shrug much more than 200#. He told me no upper body stuff, lower body only. Anyone ever have a similar problem and what did you do to correct it? I'm thinking chiropractor, but I've never been to one before. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ummmm. Function of age and weightlifting. Maybe Maybe not.
Unless you have an MRI from the past to compare it too, you in reality don't really know.
Wait until they do the MRI. I had one for all of my stuff and they found a bone spur in one of the discs. Thing is bone spur could be from several things, or it could have been there from birth.
Did you get some anti-inflamatories or muscle relaxers?
Something could be pinched.
Chiropractors. If you decide, find a damn good one that is into weightlifting. Not against chiropractors in anyways, just some of them, and I've been too many, have some believe that just don't jive with reality for me.

ummm...nevermind.The burden of originality is one that most people don't want to accept. They'd rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they are suppose to like, what they're suppose to buy, and what they're suppose to laugh at. You have Beavis and Butthead telling you what music you're allowed to like and not like, and you've got sitcoms that have canned laughter that lets you know when to laugh if you're too stupid to know when the joke is. People are too lazy and too stupid to think for themselves because America has raised them that way.

Get another opinion - 4 years ago I was told I had serious degeneration in my lower spine (T-12 and 13 I think?) and was told I would just have to deal with pain and walking like a moron once in a while - when it would get really bad I would literally fall down in mid stride. Finally got sick of it about a year ago and went to a chiro - against my wishes but I figured what the hell - he did extensive x-rays and went over them with me in great detail. Basically I had a muscle pulling my spine to the side. He adjusted me about 6 times - I iced it, stretched it etc and have not a day of pain since.
Sometimes regular docs just aren't that good at evaluating x-rays.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the responses. I will be getting the MRI in a day or two. I am not taking any anti-inflammatories at the moment, and I can tell you this morning I did a 4 mile run and it was hell. Not from any pain, but it's like my legs are not connected to my body. The stride is all off and wobbly. I am going to get at least three opinions on this. Anything to do with orthopedics I have found you need to see at least two other doctrors. I have in the past had a badly fractured finger and a broken foot and both times got two other opinions before having surgery. So be sure that you are makin the best of what that you have
the truth is all within yourself
