So, I just got a text from my gf saying she just took her car in to Firestone because her Service Engine light came on. She said they told her its going to cost $750. Firestone is a ripoff!!! Those bastards rip off women especially. I think most of those national chains are ripoffs. Dont they get pressured by corporate into ripping people off? I told her to get a second opinion.
How does one find a reputable mechanic in a big city?
Big 10 in Athens, AL is the best price on tires. But don't let them do anything else. They wanted to charge me 175.00 to do my wifes back disc brakes. I think it was also just one side. Said the pad was not in there right and it had worn one side down. I asked how much they charged if I had them just turn the rotors. 45.00 each.
So yesterday I removed the rotors. Took them to O'reilly's and they turned them for 20.00 for 2. I had the old brakes warrantied cause they was only 5 months old and both sides was already shot. Pads was free so it cost me 20.00 instead of 175.00
Same place has always jacked the price up on my wife. If I call over the phone and ask they have a cheaper price... B.S....
for a CEL take the car to auto zone or another. most will run the codes for free. then at least you can have an idea of how much it will cost after a little research.
