In '02 I quit my job because I hated my boss, loved the job. I was paid well. I bought my own business with a partner (one of my clients from my job) I put everything back into the business and only took home 4-5k a month. After 2 years, I expanded, had over 30 trucks & vans and was about to buy a house on 20 acres(in California) All paperwork, everything, was kept in the office and I had accountants to take care of finances.
I took a vacation and came back to $100.00 in the bank. My partner was using a fake name, fired the accountant a few months earlier and skipped town without a trace. I ended up homeless on the streets. No gas for my car. No money to pay for a phone or to pay the rent.
It took me a while to get back on my feet. I'm back in the same field as where I started, with a different company, but looking back...I wish I still had my old job.
WOW!!! Just....wow man!! No more whining from me! That story shuts me up where I stand. I would be ready to kill somebody!!

my boss only calls me to check in, i am free as a bird with very little supervision as long as i get my work done. i am at stress level "0". but i will never make much $ working for the health code dept. i feel for folks who hate their jobs, been here 14 years and never dread going in.

Yeah, and I don't hate the job at all. I like the job. I just like to be challenged and actually use my knowledge and this job just doesn't do that. As far as stress and what not.....it's pretty good. I go through these spells when I am getting bored. That is really all it has to do with. I just get bored.

my job can be, and usually is, very stressfull. there's a reason most "car guys" are divorced, drunks who die of heartattack or cancer, broke!! no pension or 401k....
