  • What Your Handshake Reveals

Like the saying goes, you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. And when that first impression relies on a handshake, you’d better do it right.
From a recent blog in the Wall Street Journal, the art of the job interview handshake was addressed and the research goes on to reveal, “… a well-executed handshake is itself a conscientious act.” In other words, weak or wimpy and you can forget about round two. But firm and dedicated, that’s the way to go.

Weak and wimpy with no eye contact flat lander handshake,..I hate that ! they clutch their hazelnut lattes or blackberries tighter than that. for me it's an instant deal breaker.

Shaking hands is part of my everyday routine and let me tell you, their are so many limp wristed people out there, it is disgusting. I always take the stance that the wimpier the handshake, the harder I squeeze and hold it as long as they will let me!

i hate when a guy clamps down before i am docked fully in the handshake. and he grabs my fingers.

dammit wait for the "V" of my pointer finger and my thumb hits your "V".

dudes that try to put you in a death grip are pathetic...fukin joke if you have to do that to try and scare someone...in the day, if someone did that to me in a bar, I was ready for a bar fight. people can be real dickheads, especially in bars. we should do a whole thread on bars

              A handshake says allot.
I sometimes use my left hand as well. I forget why, or what that means. I read about different handshakes yrs ago.

Yessir, gotta look em in the eyes. If someone doesn't do that I don't trust them. I always shake the hand firm and repeat their name if introducing myself. It is much easier to remember a name that way. Also, look them in the eye hard. Don't look away the entire time you're talking to them.
