  • Dennis Miller Show

Any of you guys catch him on Fox or his 3 hour radio show? Maybe the quickest mind on the radio. I dont agree with everything he says, but his show is entertaining and makes you think. I try to put him on the radio when I am working on stuff. Its good exercise for the mind.

He is pulling no punches tonight. He basically is calling obama a criminal enterprise. His presidency a "Thugocracy". "Gangster Government". This is great. Its not on syrius. Its on AM radio here. 6-9 PM

Miller is an extremely intelligent person. I also don't agree with everything he says a lot of what he says I do. I also like that he is a fan of Ayn Rand's books Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead. He quotes them fairly often.

He does. He had the producer of the Atlas Shrugged movie on. Looks like that movie is being blocked in a lot of places. Only showing in 12 cities and opens April 15

It's not being blocked, it's only being released as demand requires it. At least that's how I understood it. But it is already said to have been increased from 11 markets to over 50 due to high demand. The article then goes on to say that they are now booking it in over 80 cities. And already shows are being reported as sold out in NY City.

I have been waiting on this movie for years, and have been up to date on the production of it all along. Originally Angelina Jolie was rumored to play Dagny Taggart and Brad Pitt to play John Galt. I'm not sure if it was money that prevented that or just the fact that the ownership of the rights changed. Angelina is a huge fan of Ayn Rand according to media reports. If that's the case I would think she would have played the part regardless of money. She would have been excellent. And Brad Pitt fits the description of Galt almost perfectly. Regardless, the actors they used are said to have done an amazing job. Even a person from the Ayn Rand Institute who watched the film said it is excellent. The film is different than the book though in that it takes place in the present time with all the latest technology so I have read. I hear it's awesome and can't wait to see it. If anything else, hopefully it encourages people to read the book. There is no replacement for the book. The bible is the number one book that people try to live their life up to. Well, Atlas Shrugged is said to be the number two book for such. That alone speaks to how amazing the book is. Anyone who has not read it is missing out, even if they see the movie.

Excellent post. Thanks. Glad to hear thats not true about liberals trying to prevent this movie.
Yes, Ive really been looking forward to this movie. In some ways, its kind of cool that they are going with lesser known actors. There are parts of the movie they released. One is the scene where John reardon comes home and gives his wife a bracelet and everyone starts dissing him because the bracelet was made from the first cut of rearden steel.

Hank Rearden but I know what you meant. Yes, that part is exactly like the book. You read the book right? I think this will be a big compliment to it but not a replacement. For those who have not read it I hope they do so.

The left did raise a fuss as usual but nothing came of it. The left is just that pathetic. They are afraid of the truth, and Ayn Rand represents the truth. When she wrote Atlas the publishing companies wouldn't publish it due to their strong socialism beliefs. She finally found a publisher but could not get any advertisement. The book literally sold from word of mouth and went on to become one of the greatest selling books in history. She spent 10 years writing Atlas, and then had to work hard to get it to the public. Its a damn shame that woman of her brilliance went through such hell to get her book out. That goes to show that she lived her life just as the characters in her books. She didn't stop at anything. But After finishing the book, she became depressed. She stopped talking to media and even friends for the most part. It was like after the book was finished so was Rand. She didn't do another TV interview until years later when she went on the Donahue show. I guess she became one with the characters in the book, and after it was finished she didn't know what else to do in life.

                            Re: Dennis Miller Show

Years ago when I first read the book I pictured Gillian Anderson [Scully from the X Files] playing Dagny. Not sure why...maybe just because I was a huge X Files fan. lol

Neal Peart from RUSH is also a huge Ayn Rand fan. He based their album 2112 on her writings.

And I dug my dog eared copy of Atlas Shrugged outa my locker and started reading it again.
