Please folks, I need some honest opinions of Chiropractors

As some of you know, I've been running faithfully every morning for the past 2 years. Problem is now, my back is so badly tweaked, I can hardly stand for more than 5 minutes. It's affecting my running, and it's affecting my legs now, since I'm switching weight unevenly to help my back. My lower back is in so much pain, it's unreal. I am NOT a pain pill popper in the least. But I had a bottle of vicodin that I was prescribed for my wisdom teeth. They aren' doing a damn thing for me. So now, for the first time in my life, I'm gonna try a chiropractor. Has anyone gone to them before? What can I expect? I've read reviews from people that say "It feels better than sex", from "Ah, it was ok." Help me out pallys. Thanks

Have you tried an inversion table? I bought a teeter hangups 550 and it worked great for my sciatica. I got it to try before going to the chiropractor because I've always heard that once you go to the chiropractor you have to keep going back. I hang upside down a couple times a week for 5 minutes duration.

i had to go a couple times after an accident....it felt really good. my only prob was it seemed i had to keep going for it too feel good!! lol..i finaly just said fuk this and rode out the pain until it just stopped hurting

There are some chiropractors who are excellent and have your best interests at heart and some who are out and out quacks who are out to rip you off. I guess thats just like any profession, Buyer beware. Look for a chiropractor who works for an NFL , PGA, NBA team or else has good credentials and testimonials. Check them out thoroughly and ask around. Look them up on the BBB. Try to find a chiropractor who also does ART(Active Release Techniques) if possible. what dzone said, based on your description, a good one will have u come in twice a week for a month too two months and adjust your spine, it's out of whack, which should show up on an xray

u should show marked improvement after 3 adjustments, and just fine after 8-10

i'd ask friends and family for who is a good one in your area, almost all insurance plans have chiro options and pay for i'd guess up too 20-30 visits in a year, with a cap

i think they help but it is not going to be immediate. in fact when i first started a chiro my back hurt worse for about a week then started getting better slowly (going 3X a week)

i havent been back as i think rest ind making sure the muscles are not tense is the best remedy

II love going to the chiro when Im having back/neck issues. I have a guy in NJ that doesnt accept ins he just has a box that u put in money and he doesnt know what u put in, he says pay whatever u can afford. Real nice guy and does a solid job, better than my last chiro who was more expensive. I put $10 in there when i go, cant beat that.

Try to find a chiropractor who also does ART(Active Release Techniques) if possible.

We call them "Happy Endings" where I'm from.

I have my appointment tomorrow at 4:00pm. If he doesn't paralyze me, I'll let you all know how I feel. I don't know what I'm expecting. I would love to hear my bones crack like a pretzel stick, then get up and yell "I'm Healed!!" However, I don't think it's gonna be that easy.

Aom all I know is Ketsugo gave me some exercises to do for my back due to my kick boxing and my hips and back and I do them all the time and they work and have helped me big time.
