  • ASTAXANTHIN-A critical nutrient

Im going to add this to my supplement regimen.

WHAT CAN ASTAXANTHIN DO FOR YOUR HEALTH?
Astaxanthin is the powerful antioxidant that is found in small quantities in krill oil.

Astaxanthin also provides skin enhancing benefits by helping reduce the appearance of wrinkles and increasing skin moisture content.

Astaxanthin can have beneficial effects in the relationship between sun and skin. Over time IT will help your skin to be less sensitive to the effect of UV rays, reduce the tendency to burn and protect the deeper levels of the skin which are still damaged by those UV rays that even broad spectrum sunscreens do not block. It will also help neutralize the free radicals that are produced as a result of UV exposure.

A recent study showed that Asraxanthin caused 98% inhibition of 5alpha-reductase (an enzyme associated with the growth of prostate cancer cells), and a nine-day treatment of prostate cancer cells using astaxanthin produced a 38% decrease in growth.

There’s also positive news regarding breast cancer research and the role that astaxanthin could play in potentially treating the disease…researchers have found that astaxanthin was the best inhibitor of tumor growth in the mammary glands of mice.

I saw Dr. Mercola on Dr. Oz touting astaxanthin. He said EVERYONE should be taking it. Here is an excellent article. This stuff is a must. Everyone get on it!

Ya know, I really need to do more reading on this before going out and buying this. My supplement bill per month is getting up there and adding something else to the stack, well, it had better be good.I want to see how many studies have been done and are they legit? Lets find out if this stuff is as incredible as many people are saying. If so, I will invest in it. If not, then I am not going to buy it. I do know you can buy straight antaxanthine capsules. It is also found in krill oil, which is a very expensive fish oil. I think it is expensive because the process of extracting the oil from the krill fish is complicated. As for the antaxanthine, It is interesting that it can cross the blood-brain barrier and also the blood-eye barrier. So far I am leaning toward this supplement being legit. Is the cost to benefit ratio good enough to justify it? Possibly.
Pubmed is probably a good place to start

Not sure since I havent startedon it. Check Dr. Mercolas site for his recommended dose. Am thinking prob 2-3 grams a day would be a good place to start.
Mercola deosnt take a lot of supplements himself, but he did say that this is one of the few that he actually takes himself. So that tells you something right there.
