If you ever take that leap you'll most likely never want a gas engine truck again. Or at least that's what happened to me. There's something indescribable about the feeling of 610 ft lbs of torque under your foot at 1400 rpm. And the whistle from the turbo driving down the road sounds great. I just wish this one was louder like my Ford 6.0 liter was. I love the sound of a diesel chatter. This Cummins has the chatter sound but it isn't near as loud as the Ford 6.0. Of course, now they all sound like crap, well, they actually don't sound like anything because they are so darn quiet. I will never own newer than a 2007 F-250 in Ford and 2004 for Dodge if I should ever buy another one. I'll keep this baby for a little while though, she drives great and sounds okay. I'll see how it sounds with a bigger exhaust, maybe straight pipe it. But I guess I contradicted myself saying I would never go back to gas because several years down the road when these older diesels are too out of style I will have no choice considering I despise the sound of the new environmentally regulated diesels. I don't have to have the power, I just prefer it, but when it sounds like a gas engine I will save the money and go back to gas.

I am a Blue Oval man as well, but, always heard good things about the Cummins.

trip's post does remind me of a problem that came out of several Dodge trucks that were on a project I worked on. The front ends would fall apart. When I got mine to the service dept in Kentucky. The tech was amazed I made it from Atlanta to Kentucky because the ball joints, literally, fell apart on the ground. My next one started falling apart before 40K. None of them were diesels though. They were pre-'05 models too.

I have never had any issues with the front end on a Ford. Nor even heard of a front-end issue with Ford trucks. Doesn't mean it didn't happen.
        Which decade/model was that, trip?
it was a 2001, i had looked at buying a dodge truck for 10 years because i do love the look and the ride itself is good, and every time it was the same way on all different series, since i tend to keep my stuff a long long time, and the market is so deep u can find steals, except ala the problem

buying a used ford truck in our area is a pain in the ass, on one side folks who beat em too piss, and the other real work trucks, and the good ones have been tricked out too where if u don't like it exactly it sucks, cause they all price em high high high
