Should old rock bands keep on playing?
Honestly, I really couldn't care less. Do old bands still put out good music? I mean, some are getting up there like 70 years old.
I dont listen to their new music anyway. Do they suck in concert? Like daved said about bob segar in concert, sitting on a stool playing accoustic new shyt...LOL..>How are these old bands? Which ones should hang it up?

Im not a classic rock guy, but my fav band of all time GNR still tours and allthough the band is essentially axl and friends I think they still kick ass. Seen in concert a few times.

Heres a vid from the 06 tour pro shot with audio of the soundboard, you can judge yourself but I think they sound great, and now they sound even better with every tour axl's voice get stronger imo

When someone dies off, it seems to make the music more intense, like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix. even elvis. Nobody gave a rats ass about Elvis until he died.

What do you mean nobody gave a rats ass about Elvis before he died? Elvis was one of if not the most famous singer on the planet.

I'm glad to finally see somebody get that saying correct. I can't stand it when people say "I could care less", which would mean they have some level of care for the subject. You stated it correctly in saying you couldn't care less. And most everyone reading this probably couldn't care less about my mentioning it...lol.

Not just more intense but, did you ever hear the saying, "worth more money dead than alive"?

When Freddie Mercury of Queen died, his sales skyrocketed. Even now with Michael Jackson, his stuff is selling like hot cakes and not just his music but personals as well

I have done the opposite. In the new cars, Satelite radio came free for 3 mths. Well i have to say, that was a great promo cause they got me. Since then I have been listening to all the old stuff i used to be into when younger. This includes a guilty pleasure of the station Hairnation.

Since then as well I purchased an awesome sound system for my Avalanche and vette and even picked up a pair of Bose earphones for my ipod

I think they call this a mid life crisis

I don't know. Maybe so. He was famous, but people weren't running out and buying his records. I just know that after he died, his fame was multiplied by a gazillion and Elvis became a religion to lots of folks. He is a religious figure to some people. If he was still alive, who knows? Maybe he would be like wayne newton.

He was like Wayne Newton before he died. He had a full time show in Vegas up until his death. Read this biography of him http://www.elvis.com/about-the-king/biography_.aspx

Elvis was an international star by 1956, only 3 years after graduating high school. He also went on to star in 33 successful films. In 1970 he played 6 attendance record-breaking shows at the Houston Astrodome.

You should watch one of the Elvis movies about his life and career sometime. It's very impressive how large he became. Fans went wild for him. When he joined the Army after becoming famous the press and fans swarmed on him everywhere he went. I would say Elvis was bigger then than anyone who has ever lived since.

It seems like the old bands are now playng at fests/carnivals. Last summer we had Night Ranger and Eddie Money at the fest here. In the past we have had Rick Springfield and Foghat. Fuzo and I saw Foghat and they still sounded like they did when they were younger.

I need to read one of those. I have watched several of the movies about him and all were great.
