What an awesome TV. I did a ton of research as always before deciding between Plasma, LCD, and LED. It appears that Plasma is still the best picture out there for a darker room, and the best bang for the buck. However, it is as if there is a conspiracy to get rid of Plasmas by having the stores recommend the newer LEDs and LCDs. I am not sure if this is due to the higher energy consumption or the fact that many companies stopped manufacturing them and don't want the competition. Either way, all I know is that my 58 inch Samsung is awesome! I also bought a Denon AVR-1611 7.1 surround receiver with 3D pass through. I chose the Mirage 5 speaker omni directional speaker system, and went with a 200 watt Polk Audio sub. The sound is amazing! It's like a theater in my living room now, and the PS3 games sound real as can be. You haven't experienced the real effects of Call of Duty and GT5 until you do surround on a high def big screen.

i still haven't bought mine, yet, i agree on plasma, way better picture, what's it like 30% more energy consumption, i didn't run numbers, hard ones that is, yet, talking to the guys if i remember correctly, they're rated for x amount of hours before screens basically cough it up, and all of the hours were close, ie, 54,000 vs, 65k, which they said were true, yet, reality is like 30k , ie, ten years of life, so that 30% does play into it
on the other hand, if it's pride and joy and used for passions, playing games, best pic for sports, ur gonna upgrade way sooner, imho, for me "I watch TV", so since nothing is broke yet, lol..............when they do though, like u've i've done most of the homework

Love the excitement in your voice. I too have a decent TV and sound system in my family room. However and unfortunately, no one in my household appreciates it as i do. I get complaints that the "movie theatre" sound is too much to handle. Jealous of you.
Still, with Plasm you do get a great picture. Even if the life is 54k hours, thats 15-20 yrs of life if you watch average of 5-8 hours per day, every day. That s along time to have a TV.Comment
