    Re: Home Invasions

That's the logic. Better to have and not need, than need and not have.

      Re: Home Invasions

I keep my H&K .45 at arms length under my bed loaded with light and laser. The doors stay locked and the dog is a light sleeper. My room is upstairs too which buys me some more time.

An prior co-worker and friend of mine was just murdered by his soon to be ex-wife's teenage boyfriend. The thug broke in his sliding glass door at 1 am and was confronted by my friend. Unfortunately for my friend, he had no gun, and the intruder stabbed him to death with a knife. This just happened a couple of weeks ago and was a shocker to me. That bi**c was cheating on him while he was in Afghanistan. And it appeared they premeditated the whole thing. Too bad my friend was not into guns like most of the guys he works with, because if he was he would still be with us today most likely. This was a real eye opener from me and I'll be damned if I will show up at the door without a gun. Here is the story if anyone is interested in reading it.

I have three side holsters, two are former LE holsters that I used to use and one is one that I got from a coworker (who happens to be a reserve Sheriff Deputy). He had a boxful of gun holsters and I managed to find the only lefty.

            Re: Home Invasions

It's invaluable to have that content knowing, as the past couple posts. And I echo the same. The bad guy/s have fuhhdup if they bust in this house. I'm so with-it with the neighborhood. Jogging, walking my dog, I've got to know everyone, and their personalities. This end of the street. This last block that my house is on...They, the badguys, just don't stand a chance. They picked the wrong spot period right here. Some patriotic, alert, aware, and ready folks right here. Which leads me to a little story that I was gonna post last week when the dude strolled down my street. So, here's a little awkward story for ya. Gather 'round. I'm at home for lunch. My dog started raising hell. He went from full sleep to pissed at the window.(I have no idea how that dog hears so well.) He's more alert than any dog I've had. Crash, our adopted bulldog. So, I got up, and backed Crash off the window, and silenced him. I looked out the window, and there was the same dude I had seen somewhere about a week earlier. This dude would be a handful. This cat is just a naturally huge muthahfugger. I'd say, every bit of 6'5"-6'6", at least 280lb. I gotta friend that's 275. This dude would make him look small. Tree trunk legs, big calves. Fit. Not outta shape 280+. A fit big somebytch. Mid 40s. Dark hair. He was dressed like he was out for a mid-day walk. But anyone of his age and stature would be at work at that time-a-day. Not out walking. Next point. He wasn't walking to normal speed. He was walking as slow as he possibly could. I watched him through the window. The dude wasn't looking ahead as people do when they're out for a stroll. He was studying in-between houses. He wasn't looking at houses. This dude was zeroing in on the in-between every house. Both sides of the street. Walking slow as he could possibly. Any slower, he woulda stopped. Well, I moved to the garage, which was already open. He continued this all the way to the end of the street, which is only 4-5 houses down. He never looked back. Once he made it to the main 4 lane, I walked out to my truck and beeped the horn twice with the remote. No look. Then I unlocked and opened the door with my left hand, so I could keep my eyes on him, then shoved the door shut pretty hard, and bepped the horn with the remote 4 quick beeps. (The, [it's locked] beep). This dude never even thought about looking back. It's probably damn near natural reflex to look when you hear some ass-hole beeping the horn and slamming doors. That dude would not look back. But, he knew he was seen, at least. Everything about this dude was just wrong. Out of place. It just wasn't right, and my dog knew it too. He don't go-off like that unless someone knocks on the door like an asshole.
I hopped on my bike and rode down to Front Bch, which runs along the beach.(go figure). I hung a right, and saw the dude cutting back up towards my neighborhood, only a few streets west. I rode on down to my mother's house. I told her about the guy because I want her aware of shit like that. She finished his discription out for me. She had seen him a week earlier, she said. I knew I had seen him before. (My mother lives in the same neighborhood).

My biggest fear are the true sickos. The perverted fuks. I pray a threat to just be a punk thief. But...uhg...I just want my mother, and family safe. I want everyone safe, of course.
My mother has a .357mag. I told her she needs to get a shotgun, and keep it right by her bed. People don't realize that allot of men have taken all 6 out of a revolver. Pistols rarely immobilize the threat with 1 shot in real-world situations. They work allot better in movies. But, a .357mag does pack allot more punch than most hand-guns. Just think about this. One 3" 00 Buckshot is like a full 15rd mag of .357sig. I don't know, exactly, the size of the pellets. I just know they're not as large as 9mm or .38, but bigger than a .32. And coming with a velocity of a high-power rifle. around 2500ft.sec. Shotgun w/buckshot is tops for home defense.
