    My Service Writer days taught me that a FOB is the actual remote. Not the key. Which in Dodges, the FOB, has an outlet somewhere near the driver and starts the vehicle like a key. The FOB and key are one with Dodges. Not with Fords. At least, not that I know of.

        I see what you are saying. You are right, I'm sure. That's just what we called it...I guess I just used the wrong terminology. I have never had a FOB that started the car (other than the remote start function). What I was referring to was the "chip" or resistor that is actually on the key itself. I think we were talking about the same thing and I was just using the wrong word.
