  • I'M THE NRA...

say's the sticker I just received in the solicitation package from the NRA.
    $25 for 1yr
    $70 for 3yrs
The NRA sure makes a membership sound enticing. Just being able to call myself a member of the NRA...
I'm sure the NRA has kept some politicians from going nuts on our 2nd Amendment right, but I wonder how big a role the NRA has played in the recent 2nd Amendment rights battles in Washington DC and Chicago. I'm a member of a couple smaller organizations that really rallied for support for those attorneys for The Constitution. I'm couldn't imagine the time and effort spent on those high-profile and very important cases. But, I wouldn't be surprised if some of those attorneys for The Constitution didn't make near the money equivilant to their hours of work. Hopefully that's not the case, but I wouldn't be surprised. When the ultimate desicion likely just needed a little grease in the palm.

I'm finished with the NRA. I used to be a proud member but did not renew this year. I am a member of the Gun Owners of America. The NRA did not stand up for 1st amendment rights this year and instead was bought and paid for by the politicians to be silent on a 1st amendment matter. I called and complained to the NRA and they said we are a 2nd amendment organization not a 1st amendment one. I said how can you have one without the other. You should be pro 1st amendment and not take bribes. The NRA is showing their true colors. They also supported Harry Reid for years. But if you check out the GOA you will find that they are a strong organization that represents the Constitution and does not falter in their agenda. I cannot stress enough how pathetic the NRA has become, but I can say the GOA has stood by their cause and not taken payoffs to be silenced.

Your dissapproval of them was the 1st thing that crossed my mind. And their man, Reid. That's down right ridiculous.

The GOA does go hard for our constitutional rights, especially the 2nd amendment. I really enjoy their detailed reports/letters. I need to get another membership from them.
They're for real. I doubt we'd have to worry about the GOA channeling through someone like Harry Reid, for God's sake!

Yeah the GOA can be trusted from what I have seen since becoming a member. I found out about them at a Freedom Festival in Las Vegas and became friends with the representative. They have my support and always will as long as they stand firmly to protect our rights, all of them.

The NRA was a sad letdown for me. I proudly wore my NRA hat and was always excited to receive their magazine I subscribed to, but not any longer. I can't stand the thought of them supporting any Democrats during a time when they are stealing our rights under the Constitution. It just goes to show that the NRA is just another lame organization that has become corrupt with the government. They don't even care about the second amendment as far as I can tell. They just do what is in their best interest and play the 2nd amendment game enough to get continued support from their clueless supporters. I research any organization that I give money to, and that is why I have come to this conclusion with the NRA. I believe the GOA and local state gun owner orgs are where you're money is best spent for protecting the second amendment.

                Re: I'M THE NRA...

I used to be a member also,. But after them calling me and telling me who to vote for and getting mad cause I wasn't voting for their party I felt I could live without it. I canceled it when I had a year left. I was pissed... They do help, but there is a lot of money going into a lot of pockets also... I am done!

That is one thing, though BB. I would expect, and hope actually, an organization such as the NRA to have lobbyist. Not that I'm pro-lobbyist, but in a government where lobbyist hold a good "hand", and make things happen. I would expect an organization that large to be capable of playing whatever hand needed to keep our rights. Yes, that puts me in a hypocritical position. But...what can ya do? Actually, I know. Go the route some of the smaller gun clubs have went, and fight the honest fight within the justice system.

GOA (Gun Owners of America) seems to be growing pretty well. I am glad to support them and enjoy reading on their site about everything they are actively working to stop.
