WHERE WILL YOU BE BUILDING? WHAT STATE ARE YOU IN?
I am in Western, TN. The finishing is what we will probably do a lot on our own. The flooring (with exception of carpet), trim work, painting, etc....we will most likely do as we did it in our current house. The roof won't be elaborate and the house will not be as cut up as some that I have scene (we haven't picked a plan out but that is just what I am looking at doing).

Also, can you take a plan out of book or something and instead of having 2x4 walls, change them to 2x6? Is it as simple as that or does that change the entire scheme of things?

Any other energy saving hints or more structurally sound building tips?
-I am thinking about going with the foam insulation this time rather than the fiberglass.
-Maybe a little bigger water line to the whirlpool.
-I am thinking about looking into the floor heaters for the tile because it gets cold in the winter
-Ever had any experience with the tankless water heaters?
-Do they make a hardwood that has some kind of scratch resistant finish for dogs? I have hardwood in my dining room and the dogs have scratched the crap out of it.
Anyway, I could go on and on about my different ideas here, so I'll stop there.
