Pretty sweet, huh? The thing I like about Ruger's rendition. The Ruger utilizes a "2 stage" piston driven action. The "two stage" comes from the adjustable gas valve...here. Click link to read what it does.

Leave it open to let the gases hit that piston, and set the action in motion at a nice, fast, deliberate stroke so it'll be fast as can be.

They offer it in 6.8mmSPC (Special Purpose Cartridge)
Compare the 5.56x45mm NATO to this cartridge. Special it is. I wonder how abundant 6.8SPC is.

Only bad thing is they aren't mil spec so you can't swap uppers for other calibers.
I've converted my AR's to a piston system using the kits from Adams arms. They are good.

damn that is expensive. .556 is the way to go. easy to find and cheap ammo
but it is crazy awesome looking and i like ruger stuff

I was reading one of their ads a couple months back in a rifle mag. I was thinkin, 'there's the answer for the AR'.
Probably feel that piston, but to catch all the blast, and stop it from reaching the receiver...that's a great trade for that direct blast back to the receiver.
