  • What Most Americans Wish For

If you could choose one thing to change about yourself, would you be richer, thinner, smarter, or younger? If you’re like most people, you’d take the money.
According to a new Adweek Media/Harris Poll, which surveyed 2,163 people, approximately 43% of all Americans said they would rather be richer. Twenty-one percent said they would opt to be thinner, 14% said smarter, and 12% said younger. On the other hand, 9% of people said they wouldn’t pick any of those options.
Men were more likely to choose money (46% vs. 41%), whereas women wanted to be skinnier (29% vs. 14%).
It’s always entertaining to fantasize about what you would want if you could change something about yourself, says the press release. However… the good news is that [most people] don’t need to rely on a fairy godmother. It’s interesting to note that the largest percentages of Americans’ desires represent changes that are more or less achievable, through smart choices, hard work and dedication

Re: What Most Americans Wish For

The most popular answers are not surprising . . . without much hesitation - I'm assuming that all else would remain the same (no tricks or trade-offs) - I would choose to be smarter. I'm not a bad looking guy - and I'm married with 2 (almost 3) kids anyway. I could be thinner, more conditioned or bigger with more training and "supplements" as the article said. Younger . . . . well I can see choosing that one if I were 15-20+ years older than I am now - I'd do that if I were older. But I'd definitely choose to be smarter/wiser because that, in my mind, would be the most valuable quality to posess. Being smarter (how much smarter, by the way???) allows you to make better decisions, which improves your quality of life (possibly more $$$ too), gives you the liklihood of producing smarter kids who will take good care of you later in life (and you can brag about them to the other old folks), and maybe gives you the ability to influence people and situations to some degree. No question, I'd definitely want to be smarter.

Seems that a lot of peoples biggest dream in life is winning the lottery. Kinda sad. I see so many people buying lottery tickets.

I honestly would want to be smarter so then I can make alot of money. Yes everyone wants money asap but just think how much better you would feel if you cured cancer or made a invention that made alot of money. Dont get me wrong if I get money now that would be fine but if I had to start over as a baby I would want to be smarter. And not that I dont love my life now with my family but you guys get it
