Has anyone ever filed a diminished value claim? Someone ran into my acura a few months ago. The car is fixed and now I want to file a diminished value claim with the violator's insurance company. Does anyone have any advice or tips to get the most money possible out of this?

Yes, as CJ stated, most courts recognize such a cause of action. I am not an insurance attorney, but I would suspect you could file a small claims action against the other driver, or their insurance company (this depends upon the laws of your state, some do not allow a direct claim against the insurance company). If you file claim against the driver, he/she would bring the insurance company into it. Again, I do not know the specifics, but you would likely need some estimates that show the value of your car prior to the accident, and the value after the repairs were made (i.e., you would need to prove the value is diminished after repair, and that what you recovered from insurance did not make you whole).
