You should be able to go to your local police station and take care of it. The process can vary from state to state but my guess is it will involve the police dept. Check with your local gun dealer, they will know for sure.

All you need to do in the state of Alabama is have the buyer sign a bill of sale with all the gun info and his/her info. Then you are covered. But you can call your dealer and get the number to have it taken out of your name. I think it takes the buyer sending in something showing they purchased it from you. But then again that is one of the perks from buying from an individual as it is not in your name... Hope this helps.

I would think some form of proof would be necessary to show who purchased the gun, otherwise you could name anyone. But I am guessing they don't care who purchased the gun necessarily, but that you are taking it out of your name. The person who purchased the gun needs to register it though.

As long as you do a "Bill of sale" with the purchasers name and DL# along with the serial # of the gun on the form and alot of them down here have in the text that by signing you are stating you can legally purchase /own/and posess a firearm- then your all good

As far as getting it out of your name. Just hold on to the documentation of it leaving your possession, and you have nothing to worry about (like, if the guy does some stupid shit with it). As for the guy that bought it. If he wants to register it. That ball's in his court. But he'll need a 'bill of sale' from you, with the info deepsouth listed, to do all that.

DAMN IT! I didn't get a bill of sale or any of that when I sold it. I am going to the gun shop tomorrow and see if there is a number I can call or what I need to do.

Yea the guy seemed really nice, but just wanna cover my behind in case he does anything stupid. I could care less if he registers it. I just want to be sure and get it out of my name.

                  Thank you guys
