its the kids that suffer? dude....if a man woke up and decided he didnt want to be with a women anymore, does his kids suffer less? throwing the kids into it dosent validify sex addiction....any divorse sucks for the kids, that goes without saying i would think.

you mention tiger woods,jesse.charlie sheen thats 3 people out of a whole country or world in tv land how about the others maybe million or so people with this addiction that dont have money and isnt in the lime light. Sex addiction is a proven medical addiction in the brain thats a fact and i'm not making it up.And since the media has made this more then it is because its just a hot topic now peoploe think sex adiction is bogus,no like I said its a medical proven addiction

There was a time, most of my life, and some of my adult life, when I called bullshit on drug addiction. But I have grown to learn real addiction is indeed a disease for which, allot of situations dealing with addiction, a medication is needed. Food, screwin, and gamblin...just add self control.

That was exactly my point in comparing the 2. One, opiate addiction, is a legitimate disease. These other proclaimed "addictions" are just a lack of self control. I just don't think most folks understand the actual disease unless they have, or have dealt directly with a loved one that has a life threatening addiction. An addiction that can kill you if you keep going with the substance, and it can kill you if you take the substance away from the person with the addiction. That's addiction. A disease. I didn't even buy into the "addiction" bs growing up. When drug addiction was referred to as a disease, I thought 'bullshit'...'disease...pfft'. But I've since learned that it is indeed a very serious an legitimate disease. In learning, and going through what taught me about real addiction, it makes irks me a little when folks thow that term out there like they do for these type of wants. You don't just [want] with addiction. It do or die. There's no do without. [Want] leaves the picture and [need] takes control. And you need that substance of addiction just to function. Just to get out of bed, not throw up, or possibly die. That's addiction.

Addiction is a real disease. Addiction should only be used when one's life is on the line. The real disease of addiction effects people's lives just as any other deadly disease. It's extremely dangerous and volatile.

I agree Dave. There's no comparison. I just made that comparison to make that point.

I'm not saying addiction can't come in other forms. I just feel that use of the term when life, health, and/or mental well being aren't at extreme stake that it's more than a slight to an otherwise very serious dissorder.
