Need advice on doing a website, please!

Just something simple for now. Was thinking of doing a do it yourself site. Someone said to do it thru Godaddy.com...I dont know anything about it, really. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I use Godaddy to register domain names and web hosting. Their web hosting and domain registration fees are very inexpensive. I think Godaddy does have a simple web design software. I'm just not familiar with it.

I use Adobe Golive is for more advanced level web designs. I think they have discontinued it and is now promoting Dreamweaver. I've also used MicroSoft FrontPage for simple web designs.
