man, speakin of. Back in the day. Mid 90s. My brother dressed up as a crazy middle eastern dude with this fake beard he had. Wrapped a towel around his head. He had these crazy big-ass eyes that looked different directions that he put in his eyes. They were those big plastic prank jokers. He put a couple belts of 7.62x51mm from shoulder to shoulder...AK in hand. That is a classic moment captured. It wasn't halloween or anything. He came out of his room wearing that shyt. Funny as hell! crazy fuker...man...He was a character. The character.

He was something else. That was my older brother.
He bought his AK right when he finished with Basic training and MOS. He said the M16 was a jamming mahfugger. They got to shoot AKs, for whatever reason. His drill sargeant was letting them see the difference and told them to learn their enemy's weapon. I guess a "just in case" type thing. He fell for it right then. Our military, evrybody really, knows that the AK is a hell of a combat rifle that's reliable as they come. Fun as hell to shoot too.
I'm sure this will start a "my AR is more accurate than any AK" debate, but...nah...not true at all. My AK is as accurate as my .22. 9 out of 10 weapons are as accurate as the shooter. The only aspect that the AR out does the AK in accuracy is in full-auto, because of the less recoil of the AR. It doesn't walk up like the AK. The AK is just a sprayer in full auto. Semi-auto, or 3rd burst. The AK is just fine.

Get the new suppressor like they use on the 74 and your climbing issues are over.
The AK has alsways been a good choice for a basic battle rifle. The new AK74s are awesome!
As to the question how many guns do you need?
That depends on the situation: range, number of assailants, daylight or dark, etc.
Realistically a reliable large caliber hangun with multiple magazines is more than enough for most people in the US.

I have a muzzle brake on the AK. It's noticeable too. The recoil goes straight back. Of course I won't be seeing how it does in full-auto, but you can tell when you shoot it that just that slant muzzle-brake does do something.
My friend tried to see how fast he could squeeze rounds off, and he kept pretty close to the target and it just walked him backwards about 5 steps. He pulled about 8 rounds off pretty quick. He's very light in the ars too, so it started walking him backwards quick.

I want to shoot at dusk. Post some pics of the blast. Get to show folks why it's nicknamed "the flame-thrower"

yes, it's gas operated, but have you ever seen the piston and other metal that's set in motion to work the action on an AK? It's the movement of all that mass that causes the rifle to rock-n-roll. The action jackson. allot of metal in motion.

...and yes, it's a 7.62x39. It doesn't have allot of recoil relative to many high power hunting rifles, at all. but in full-auto, the AK is more difficult to keep POA than an AR because of the mass set in motion to work the action.
Easy recoil compared to other high-power hunting rifles though.
