What's your view on being a little lax with pre-k?

Parents. Are, or were, you less strict with your child during their pre-k year because it's pre-k, or did you take it just as serious as high school?

Gimme some feedback please. My daughter had a birthday party to attend yesterday evening, and she's just beat this morning. She's only in pre-k so I figure I'd let her little self get her valuable rest. Her feet usually hit the floor at first call. I let her sleep because she was in such a deep sleep this morning. The little girl is tired, and she does so well.

Let her sleep! It is just pre-k. Pre-k is important but it is not like school when she gets older. I don't know about you but when I was younger, noone even went to preschool. I would have done the same thing you did. Her sleep is very important and it will also be when she gets older and is in school, but now is now.

PRE- K IS JUST A BABY SITTING SERVICE. WE SKIPPED IT AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE

        Re: skipping Pre-K

I thought me and my brother were one of very few that didn't go to pre-school. I'm glad to know more folks that didn't do preschool.

Thanks for the reassurance that I made an okay decision. I'm just so particular about instilling a good value system. I know it's only pre-k, but I don't want her to think school is optional. But as y'all said. It's just pre-k. It's only a few hours a day, and I feel her rest outways the pre-k day today. She's been a little busy body over the past week. Valuable rest takes priority allot of times. She's difficult to get to rest too. She's a do'er. go go go...She finally got up about an hour ago, and she was disappointed about missing school today. I had to get her some plans thrown together for the day. She's a good girl.

        Thanks again for the replies!

She sounds a lot like our little girl! She is like the energizer bunny, lol! You will instill the right values in her, but remember, she is a pre-schoolere now and she will have plenty of time to be serious about school. Let her be a little girl now and have fun.

                    Re: skipping Pre-K

Pre-K is for building socializing skills and not necessarily for learning. interaction betwenn other children is important but not as important as school. if your child is already enagaged in socializing with other children, pre-k is not as important
