I'd race you in my powerstroke..lol, not fair though huh.

What is the throttle in Toyota trucks? Is it some type of fly by wire system that is electronic? I don't understand why they are having that problem, seems a bit odd.

yes, but I've been eyeballing an HK- haven't made up my mind yet. Hell I'd have to get $1K for it as it sits and thats taking a loss for what I got in it

I have a guy out here with a decked out Duramax and we run even till my governor kicks in @120mph.

Not sure on the throttle- I really have looked at it, but I guess I will now. I'm really not concerned- if I haven't had a problem in 2 yrs, I doubt I'm gonna have one

Mine is stock. I justy have a better muffler. whoohoo!!!. and adjusted the transmission settings.
That's just like the Z28 that had 275hp, but couldn't hang with a Stang with 225hp in real life. Those brochures always get people thinking they got more than they have.
I've smoked several Hemi trucks with 375hp. Ford lists my model F-150 as 300hp. but where Ford always gets everybody is that massive torque output. . And they must lowball the numbers. Or just use real numbers.

                    Re: i'm sorry....

deep...this is serious...not taking a shot...they are saying that its a "ware" issure...it seems to be computer related (only componate used across all models too save cost) and it effects vehicles based on the part "waring out"...alot of people dont understand this becouse it's happening on new 2010's as well as 2004's!!! just be prepaired if something happens...throw in nutral, turn off engine but keep wheel unlocked!! bringing it to a stop and restart seems to fix it, but it does repeat.
just a serious word of caution bro

                      Re: i'm sorry....

                      very true, and real.
So many folks freeze up in a situation like this. Ya see it happen on fast dirtbikes. heck, I've watched tourists do it on rented mopeds. They give it throttle. It takes off, and they just lock with the throttle open until they crash.
You seem like a guy that could handle a wot (wide open throttle) incident, deep. I know where Dave's coming from though. It can make ya just death grip lock until it's over. That's been the demise of Toyotas full of people.

..or the ole death lock. full throttle, eye's wide open...straight...they just lock going whatever direction the vehicle is heading when it freaks out on them.

me and my mom was going to florida in a cadilac elderado. she set the cruise and the car kept going faster and faster...at first she was freaking out a little, then she stuck it in nutraul and turned off the key...great idea, but it locked the fukin wheel!! good thing we was on a straight piece of road and there wasnt any traffic...while she was freaking a little we only drifted into the other lane befor eshe turned the key back on. we coasted to a staop...started the car...and it neve had a prob again. about 3weeks later my dad traded it off for a lincoln towncar...

i actually thaught you was just being a smartass...i've heard alot of the accident story's with these cars, but i didnt hear that one...i did hear about the lady that was told to put her floormats in the trunk...they found her hanging by her seatbelt in a swamp with the floormats in the trunk!!! she lived...i'm sure shes got a lawyer!! lol
