The King would have turned 75 on January 8. If you’d like to celebrate Elvis Presley’s birthday with a sampling of his favorite foods, there are plenty to try - an Elvis sandwich, an Elvis cupcake, even a cocktail dedicated to his memory.

The sandwich that bears his name at Peanut Butter & Co. is a grilled peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich for $7.50. (Add bacon for another buck.) It’s the best-selling item on the menu, with dozens ordered every day, and uses two of his favorite ingredients: bananas and peanut butter.
On the sweeter side, Crumbs bakeries carry Elvis cupcakes ($3.75), which are vanilla cake domes with banana flavored cream cheese in the center, swirls of peanut butter on top and a sprinkling of peanut butter chips. It’s not unusual for these cupcakes to sell out, so if you’re in a celebratory mood, visit a bakery early.
The star’s two favorite foods also go into a delicious banana bread pudding that’s the creation of Marc Weiss, aka DJ Chef, who created it for a music festival.
“It’s a take on Elvis’ love for peanut butter and banana sandwiches,” Weiss says. “It was a favorite when I made this for the music festival.”
Finally, if you’d like to sample a drink that conjures Elvis, the Masked Devil of Bombay at the Beekman Bar and Books was inspired by the song, “Devil in Disguise.” It’s the creation of mixologist Ben Scorah, and contains gin, lemongrass and melon liqueur.

    Recipe: The Elvis sandwich

    Serves: 4

    Ingredients
    2 tablespoons butter, softened
    8 slices white bread
    1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
    1 large ripe banana, sliced
    1/4 cup honey
12 slices bacon, sautéed until crispy (optional)

    Instructions
Spread the butter on one side of each slice of bread. On the other side of half of the slices spread peanut butter. Place banana slices on top of peanut butter. Drizzle honey over bananas. Place three bacon slices on top of the banana, then place the remaining buttered bread slices on top, butter-side-out.
Place sandwiches on a preheated grill pan or griddle. Flip them over when they become golden brown and crispy. When the sandwiches are browned on both sides, remove to plates. Slice in half and serve immediately.

I shared a house with a bunch of friends and when we were partying we made all sorts of sandwiches. the most famous was peanut butter, onion and mayo. I'm not kidding. sounds gross but when your half in the bag you may eat anything.
