Has anyone gotten it? Lil Fuzo got the first does last weekend at her school. She got the nasal one. Anyway, ever since then she has been sleepy, pale, has had diarrhea and threw up twice yesterday. Her doc says it is not from the vaccine, but she just has the flu. She has no temp either. I believe it is side effects from the vaccine and I don't think we will be getting her the second dose.

Re: Swine flu vaccine
I DEFINITELY DID NOT! My wife works for the health department and she was the only person that refused to get it. All her co-workers around her got sick...she did not.
Btw, this vaccine is a schedule C for pregnant women which means they have no idea on what the repercussions are on the fetus. So if you know anyone that is pregnant and has a doctor that tells them to get the vaccine tell them to read the terms and conditions to verify what I said (I have the terms and conditions in front of me and it does say that in writing) then tell them to run away as fast as possible from that doctor!

Re: Swine flu vaccine
ATLANTA — Hundreds of thousands of swine flu shots for children have been recalled because tests indicate the vaccine doses lost some strength, government health officials said Tuesday.
The shots, made by Sanofi Pasteur, were distributed across the country last month and most have already been used, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The 800,000 pre-filled syringes that were recalled are for young children, ages 6 months to nearly 3 years.
Dr. Anne Schuchat, a CDC flu expert, stressed that parents don't need to do anything or to worry if their child got one – or even two – of the recalled shots. The vaccine is safe and effective, she said.
The issue is the vaccine's strength. Tests done before the shots were shipped showed that the vaccines were strong enough. But tests done weeks later indicated the strength had fallen slightly below required levels.
Why the potency dropped isn't clear. "That's the $64,000 question," said Len Lavenda, a Sanofi Pasteur spokesman.
Young children are supposed to get two doses, spaced about a month apart. Health officials don't think children need to get vaccinated again, even if they got two doses from the recalled lots, said Schuchat.
Swine flu vaccine has been available since early October, and since then manufacturers have released about 95 million doses for distribution in the United States.
The recalled shots were made by Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of France-based Sanofi-Aventis Group. The vaccine all tested fine when it was shipped out earlier this fall. But last week, testing of one lot showed that the potency had fallen about 12 percent below the government standard, Lavenda said.

Re: Swine flu vaccine
My daughter was supposed to get the nasal mist. They got theirs, at her school about a month-5wks ago. She developed a cough, right away, that's proigressed enough that we had to take her to the doctor last week. She was running a slight temp. I was pissed to find out they gave them the shots after the paper clearly stated they were geting the mist.
But, it looks like most of the vaccines didn't contain thimerosol anyway, and that's the damned thing about the vaccine. That preservative.
The prescription cough syrup has helped my daughter's cough very much, and she's starting to get back to 100%. But it slowly progressed, the sieffects of the vaccine/virus, over 4-5wks.
I hope little Fuzo is okay.
My girl is not getting the second one!

Re: Swine flu vaccine
After much debate with myself, the kids and I all got the swine flu vaccine. None of us had any trouble. The kids and I have never had a flu shot but this flu worried me cause the young kids have had such a hard time with it. Sigh.......I felt like damned if I do and damned if I don't. There was a couple kids in our small area who were hospitalized for it.

Re: Swine flu vaccine
My son only got one dose of the nasal spray, his second dose with the injection and both my daughters received the injection. My youngest daughter had a reaction to her mmr this summer so we the doctor thought it best she didn't get the live vaccine. The kids just got their second dose Thursday and everyone seems okay.

Re: Swine flu vaccine
well my view hasn't changed- never had a flu shot and will not. I also will NOT allow them to give my kids this stuff. If you ever study the different flu strains- this is really no different than any other, just a new strain. They have had no more people die from this than any other flu so why everyone is in such an uproaor is beyond me. They just made a big deal out of this to take the focus of the real issues going on in the world- a little smoke and mirrors act if you will. I sure most got fooled like on election day in 2008
