  • A Wii for my girl.

My daughter just turned 5yrs old a month ago. She's tried to play some of my older consoles. Like Atari 2600.lol...nah, but she's tried to play little Mario Cart, and was still to much for her. That was a couple yrs ago, though, too. but I think a Wii takes care of all ages, correct? She could probably "get" the children's games more now anyway, than when she was 3.
I can't wait to play the darn thing. I've never really played a Wii. I've always heard how fun they are.

My daughter doesn't really know she wants one. She just wants a Barbie bike with a little miniature bicycle attached to the handlebar for a Barbie doll to sit on. So, gotta grab that. The Wii was on sale, and came with a $50 store card for Wal-Mart. Can't beat that. I think that'll make the Barbie bike like $20.

So the Wii we got says it has a Sports game included. It looks like the bowling, golf, tennis, etc. Is that game okay, or should we use that $50 on a new game. Suggestions please??? Somoething that a 5yr old could handle, as well as us old codgers enjoy.

Probably need to get a 2nd controller for sure too, huh?

I saw a kit with extensions that you slide onto the wand/remote controller. It had a tennis racket, baseball bat, golf club(maybe)...I just remember it having about 10 different things to go over the controller for sport games, to make the controller feel more like what you're doing. I would imagine a racket would help with tennis. I'm gonna kick butt and take names with that tennis.

We got Wii when our daughter was 5 and it has been great for her. I think it is the best system for children and offers the most games for them. We also have PS3 and there is really not any games for her to play on that. You and your wife will have a lot of fun with Wii also.

She should be able to do the Sports game fine. We also got "Carnival Games" when we got the Wii and our daughter was able to do that one also and she can play it alone or with other players too. She loves to play Mario Cart!

As far as the kit, I wouldn't even bother getting it. We got it and we never bother using it. You really don't need it at all. I say spend the extra money on another controller and eventually invest in a charger or you will be replacing batteries a lot.

Go get it, you will all have a lot of fun with it!!

Ok... I miss read at first and thought you said your daughter was 5 months old and you got her a Wii for Christmas. LOL

E's parents is getting his daughter a Wii. She's 19 and keeps telling us over and over that's all she wants for Christmas. We've got her a mini Netbook. She hasn't a clue that we've got it. Her laptop is in a bad condition and keeps having to be repaired. All in all she's racking up some pretty good gifts this year.

We already got the Wii. I saw the commercial for the Carnival Games, and that does look like something she could do and enjoy.

Thanks for steering me clear of that kit.

I can't wait to play it.
My wife has been wanting one since they came out.

My friend was just telling me about that boxing game. I didn't know it was part of the game that comes with it til I looked the box over. That game sounds fun.
And didn't they re-do Punch-Out from back in the day?..for the Wii?
Remember good ole Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I think it's just Punch Out now, of course. But the one with Glass Joe, Soda Popinski, etc...lol. I had a blast with that on the first Nintendo.

Re: A Wii for my girl.

My wife heard, form her co-workers, that Mario Cart is a must for the little ones. It's obviously easier to operate than the last game system.

I have a question about the boxing game. Do you have to have another controller to do that, or does the "nunchuck" work for it.?
I saw that the nunchucks are included. but the illustration of them doesn't look like nunchucks that come to mind. Are these just a controller that's called nunchucks because it has a link to a smaller controller for your other hand?
Get what I'm asking?? or was that too all over the place?

Yes, you do need the nanchuck for the boxing game.

I better check the box again. I remember reading 'nunchuck' being included, and looking at the picture thinking, 'that's not nunchucks.' but...
                            yes, it has it.
