  • 2 questions/subject-AK...again

Why is the Romanian AK sometimes considered "bottom of the barrel"?

Next question: Why is the Soviet AK often considered "the best"?

That leads me to another widespread misconception. You hear alot of folks want to follow the Soviet by the "Chinese running 2nd best".
The Chinese T56 is more a copy of the original Soviet AK-47, which had flaws, a heavy milled receiver, and was revamped by Kalishnikov. Hence the improved Soviet AKM.

It just seems that most weapons by the Russians- even the modern shotguns/rifles "Baikal" are very heavy but built like a tank and very durable. Maybe it has something to do with where there made and the condions there that they have to stand up to-really don't know, but defiantely well built non the less

good point. and the fact that Kalishnikov, a Russian, designed the AK. and redesigned it, and redisigned it..
The Romanian AK that I've heard sometimes called the "bottom line AK" is an exact replica of the Soviet AK. Very well made rifle. I think the availability of the Romanian version today...being it's mass production, makes people somehow come to the conclusion that it's sub-par. The Romanian PM md.63 & WASR-10 is identical to the Soviet AKM.
