  • WAR THEN AND NOW...

IS IT JUST ME OR IS THE WAY WE HAVE "WARS" NOW A JOKE...

IN THE OLD DAYS, YOU JUST BOMBED THE SH IT OUT OF YOUR EMEMY AND TOOK OVER THEIR COUNTRY AND IT WAS DONE...WHATS THIS ABOUT RE-BUILDING YOUR ENEMY'S COUNTRY SO THEY CAN JUST ATTACK YOU LATER?

WE NEVER HAD ANY MORE PROBLEMS OUT OF JAPAN AFTER HIROSHIMA OR NAGASAKI DID WE?

    WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

    Re: WAR THEN AND NOW...

    I've posted about this before.

Wars, if you don't move you lose.

WWI and WWII, or even going back centuries, armies would move forward, destory, take over and move on. During Japan, it was impossible to attack there shorres and move, thus, we bombed crap out of them.

Vietnam, russia in afganistan, irag, us in afgan, we just are plain assed sitting ducks, folks know where we are.

We defeated Britian because the French funded us and helped with there navy. All countries have folks who will help them. In vietnam, russia and china fed guns and money to vietnam to bog us down. When russia went into afgan we sent guns and money and after a decade in bankrupted the country.

When we went into afgan, no one would support taliban or al quida except for some pakistan militants, yet, when we invaded iraq, tons of muslims, iran included had guns and money for the insurgency.

Today, modern communications and worldwide travel hamper military. In old days military could out run communications and others travel.

Thus, my stance on pretty much all war is dumb.

liberals whine too much now....you got real time internet video's showing the bombing, the mayham, the blood and guts and the media attacks our own country on why this is necc. and how we need to "care" more....it's political now....we cant win. our own people (citizens, media, politicians) get in the way...we should just contract out all ground wars (we still control the air) and then we can shrug our shoulders and say "bad contractors!! bad contractors....you shouldnt accidently kill civilians...dont do that no more" and then we sit back and let them take the heat....
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!

        Re: WAR THEN AND NOW...

It's not only the liberal humanitarians that really have swayed war directives. Yes the media, human rights groups, and the like make an impact. But we are a completely different people than we were through WWII. I feel the change really hit home during the Vietnam War. That change that made war much more difficult and the directive of; completely overwhelm and defeat the opposition became; defeat the opposition while keeping political correctness at the forefront. It's fuked up. Our enemy has no care what-so-ever about looking good to the world. They could give a baker's fuk who calls them racist, or fighting a religious fight for that matter. so who's on the short end of that stick? And why should they worry about racism. They get creditted here in our country for exhibiting their racism. They actually get awarded with American's hard earned money for exhibiting their minority status.

So, we live in a politically twisted and fuked up world now that allows this kind of favoritism of racism, and hates on American pride.

To sum it up. Conflicts were backed with a completely different pride from the homefront, White House, Capital Hill, news-media and so on. Having a completely different state of pride and mentality, wars were fought with that confidence and pride at forefront. Instead of all the political correctiveness, and hand kissing bowes making sure not to send the wrong message. The late-most message from our highest seat in the country is that of complete remorse. Seems to be alot of looking back. Great leadership is forward thinking. 3 steps ahead...with conclusions and solutions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a new seat in great leadership should be forward thinking. 3 steps ahead with conclusions and solutions on the table. Not hanging head about the past, going on and on about past regrets that are out of his control.

We had true leadership in those days. When conflicts needed a resolution, world leaders gave heed to the call of duty. Conflicts arise. Resolution should take action. Otherwise you find situations that get out of hand, e.g. Totalitarianism, (**** Germany). Adolf ****** and his National Socialist German Worker's Party had a bead on the USA. And I don't just mean he put a push-pin in America on his map on the wall.

I think we can all agree that war is neither fun, nor pretty, glorious, glamorous, or anything glitzy. The ultimate result...well, that's arguable. But war kept us from having to speak German. War enables you to be able to vote for the candidate you feel is best for the presidency of our country.

My daughter needs my attention, so I'm done boring you now. You're relieved.

I agree! It seems like we keep tip toeing around the ****in' issue/enemy for fear of hurting their feelings or offending someone.

wtf?? I can't say N-a-z-i, Germany? or mention Adolf (you know his last name)?
I just noticed that. That could've been confusing had I not mentioned the leader's first name, and the socialist party.
What gives? That's a major part of history. I can see banning a crazy n-azi fuker, or reprimanding someone for misuse of the terms, but we should be able to mention it when talking about history, or comparing it in a strictly historic or non-confrontational way. It's WW2. Many of us have family that fought in that war. It was the conclusion of WWII that brought The Great Depression to an end, and set the United States of America as "the super power" of the world.

                  Re: WAR THEN AND NOW...

yeah, I've heard them mis-used and could imagine them being misused enough to strike a nerve. As you can see, I only mentioned them in proper context. In their exact meaning, and place in history. I realize those aren't words that should be thrown around lightly as they hold strong meaning.
