Im just a nice guy who tries to do the right thing and help people and I get screwed for it sometimes. Does anyone know what I mean? Some girl I knew in high school who was down on her luck a bit is trying to get her "faux wall covering" business going. She comes by my office and offers to do all my walls in some fake marble thingy for free! "Just let me put my cards in your business and promote me and let people come by and look at my work. "Ok, so then after I agree to it, she hits me up for $$$ for materials. A few hundred bucks. Im a bit taken aback by the amount, but I give her the money anyway after she tells me she only uses the finest materials money can buy blah blah blah.. Well, a friend of mine happened to run into her at the RECYCLED PAINT CENTER(where paint is 50 cents a gallon). She slips and tells him that she is buying paint there to paint my office. Now the job is half done. It looks ok. Just ok. I told my gf about this tonight and she is telling me to confront the ***** and tell her to cough up receipts...Oh well, my inclination is to just say fugit, and try to be a litttle smarter and not so fckin nice next time. I mean, its not like Im going to get my money back which she obviously doesnt have. Oh, she also hit me up today for $25 bucks donation for some school program her son is in. Wonder what is up wit dat?

So am feeling like I got scammed. Oh well.
What do you do?

yep!!! happens to me all the time bro. my wife says we spent our first 20yrs together trying to help people...trying to do the right things and look where we are. maybe its time to start fukin people for the next 20 yrs!!!

i hate being taken advantage of but i also try and help people when i can. I would be pretty upset about what she did and i think i woudl ask here about it. At the very least i woudl tell her that she can not put up her cards or have people come bt and look at stuff. However i would wait till it's done or you might end up with a half painted office

Money is to hard to come by these days. I would want to see all the receipts. A few hundred bucks is not what I would consider free.

i would be a bit pissed. I would speak to her about it and ask fro receipts. When she can't come up with them, make the point. What i mean about that is, make her feel like shyt for taking advantage

Just pay it and don't do business with her again. I have hired many peeps to do jobs that I wasn't pleased with, but just make sure they never get called on another job for me or anyone else I know

^Thanks you guys. I agree that confronting her on it prob wont do any good except create a more stressful situation. She misrepresented herself, big time. Once I get my key back, I will simply not answer her phone calls and not reply to her. I really am disappointed in her as a person. I knew something was amiss when she started telling me her boyfriend is an ex Navy Seal. WTF? Why do people always lie about military service????? I know this guy and he was NEVER a f**king Navy Seal. OMG!!!!! Scumbags find other scum bags to hang around with.

Well, I don't agree with her lying about the products, that was just wrong!! But I will say this, I have been remodeling and doin work to my house for a while now and I'm doing alot of Faux Painting throughout my house, and it's quite expensive and VERY time consuming!!! The $$$ spent freatly depends on the Faux effect you are trying to achieve. So, I'll give her that much. But what she did was wrong and took advantage of your kindness!!

I would tell her your pissed and back her into a corner and make her cry her eyes out then be polite and say something nice.....................people would pay money to see somethin like that.

That Navy Seal shit pisses me off to no end.

He lied to her and now she is going around telling everyone her boyfriend was a navy seal..ugh!!!! Makes me want to puke.
