Sleeping pills. Seroquel. Sucks!

Dealing with a bit of stress(I wish it was only a bit..lol)...So I get Seroquel(quetiapene) for insomnia. Anybody ever taken this stuff? It is totally a sleep and eat pill. I gained 12 pounds in 2 weeks. Im Kind of thinking this is not a drug to f**k around with. My eyes were so swollen this morning I could hardly open them. Anybody have any experience with this junk? I dont want to take it anymore but might need to taper off the 200 mg tabs Ive taken. F**K!!!!(sorry if this is the wrong forum for this)

Did you sleep?? Sounds a bit like an allergic reaction. I've used it and it did nothing for me, but I haven't found anything that works really good, or at least for very long. The best thing I have found is unisom sleep tabs doxylamine succinate (25 mg), I pop 4 and can usually get at least 5 hours sleep, which is better then none!! They work better for me than any prescription sleep med I have tried.
Also I have some chamomile herbal tea at nite before bed, and It does help as well. I'm really all for natural vs. meds any more!

My cousin gave me a couple of those before, and I did sleep, but then someone told me that Seroquel is for bi-polar disorder. I remember looking it up after to confirm that. My cousin is bi-polar along with some other issues. I was kinda pissed when I found that out. When I confronted him about it, he said, "well, they make me sleep good..." so...he was just trying to be nice.

I remember getting a script for Trezadone when I had issues with sleep in my early 20s. They worked very well for me. I remember having to be ready to lay down within 10 minutes of taking it because if I stayed up, it was like I missed my window of opportunity. But 10-20min after a Trezadone, and you're out like a light. The great thing about them, that I loved, was no groggyness in the morning. It was like I just got the best night's worth of natural sleep. felt like a million bucks in the morning.

Ambien and Ambien CR just don't do it for me, regular ambien I can get maybe 4 hours if I'm on a good nite, most of the time its 2 1/2-3 hours max!! Lunesta, was like taking a sugar pill!! LOL did nothing!! This is so bad, but a few years back out of desperation I have a Dr. I visit in Mexico on one of the borders, who has always aken good care of me with antibiotics and such, so I went to him for help with my insomnia, he gave me a months worth of this pills, I wasn't sure what they were as I had to bring them back across in a plastic bag hid, cause you need an american script or was told this. Well I got home took one of the pills I was at my computer sitting at the desk, One of my girl friends had gone down with me, and didn't want to drive home so stayed the night, well she was watching TV and all at once heard a huge thud! Well it was my head hitting the desk, because the pill knocked me OUT~!! Well She got me to my bed, or so she says I don't remember, bur I slept like a little baby for the first time in years!! So I took them for a while longer. I was at the gym training with a couple that are my very good friends who are police sergents. We were talking and he asked what it was, I told him I wasn't sure, he kept asking me to bring him one of the pills so he could look at it. Well I made another trip down before I got one to him, but I kept part of the package with the name on it. I didn't really pay attention to it or know what it was. Well I ook it to the gym he looked at it and screamed Damnit I knew it!! Quit taking this sh!! These are Ruffies!! The date rape drug! I said but I can sleep!! then he told me all the dang side effects, and I flushed those babies down the toilet. But I have to say it was the best sleep I had in many years!! Felt so good, but was so BAD~!!
Moral of the story, I always ask before I take now, I don't trust my Mexico Doc!!

I have the same problem with regular Ambien(only 4 hrs of sleep) and the CR's are a little better, but I do wake up refreshed unlike the Xanax that I wake up groggy on

Yeah some of them make me feel heavy headed in the morning as well, some are worse than others. Its bad enough still being tired, but you add that to it and it makes it hard to function!

I remember getting a script for Trezadone when I had issues with sleep in my early 20s. They worked very well for me. I remember having to be ready to lay down within 10 minutes of taking it because if I stayed up, it was like I missed my window of opportunity. I was given that after my knee operations in 2004 and it worked for a while. Then I guess my body became immune to them because they do nothing for me. If I take one with a Vicodin, I'll be out in about 15 minutes. But then when I wake up, I'm groggy and fatigue and eventually back to sleep until most of the day is gone.

Wow! IPL, thanks for sharing that story with us. Dont feel bad. Anybody who remembers the amazing sleep from GHB(also a date rape drug) can surely relate to your story. In the late 90s GHB was sold under several names right OTC at health food stores. It was called Renutrient. Many muscle magazines had articles about the huge bodybuilding benefits of it. Caused big surges in GH during deep sleep. There were ads for it in most of the magazines. I got big and I got ripped. I was taking it everynight and I could take some and sleep 2 hours and wake up feeling like I slept 8. It tasted so horrible I had to mix it with cranberry juice. There was even a dirty bookstore here in town where everybody was buying it.LOL...Then it got banned, but was still available as some type of ink jet cleaner. LOL...I was drinking "ink jet cleaner" for sleep. I started to have anxiety atacks every day at noon. I didnt draw the connection that it was withdrawls symptoms from GHB. Getting off of the stuff wasnt easy. Now its a controlled substance and totally against the law. Weird how we were all just buying it at the store.

Im going to stop taking this seroquel. Yes, It is used to treat bipolar , schizophrrenia, etc but it is also prescribed for insomnia. They probably prescribe it to serious head cases because then all they do is sleep and dont bother anyone..LOL..I mean, seroquel will knock you on your ass.

Thanks IPL for sharing that story. I am glad others have shared about sleep aids as well. I have had a few people really judge me when I told them I was taking a sleeping pill. No joke. Im sure those same people wouldnt be judgemental as soon as something happens in their life that causes them insomnia.

ambien works great for me....i dont get insomnia...matter of fact i can fall asleep at anytime, lol. i just cant sleep through the night. sometimes i wake up 3-4 times. when i take an ambien, i sleep like a baby!!!

Is that ambien still crazy expensive? I remember it being like $100 for 10 or some crazy ass shit...I would like to try that...I hate having to take anything but heck..lol

Seroquel isnt for sleep. if you cant sleep why not try

advil pm,tylenal pm,lunesta there so much other stuff for sleeping problems

Seroquel may not be for sleep but it gets prescribed for sleep as much as for any other reason. Same way Elevil is not a sleeping pill but thats what it gets used for mostly. I would try those PMs but Long term use of ibuprofen or tylenol is lethal. The same ingredient for sleep is in unisom, without the deadly acetominophen. I have taken unisom and they are pretty decent. I try not to stay on the same thing for a long time.

I USED TO USE ADVIL PM'S FOR OVER A YEAR SRTAIGHT ST NIGHT AND I WAS FINE. I TOOK IN ALL MY WATER I USED LIV 52 AND ALL IS GOOD.I QUIT TAKING THEM AND NOW MAYBE TAKE A LUNESTA SOMETIMES OR A AMBIEN. SOMETIMES A XANAX IT ALL DEPENDS IF I WANT TO TAKE ONE OR NOT

YES~!!!! Most of the sleep pills they will prescribe are all expensive! Even with insurance co-pay!!

Also I think any sleep aid your body becomes dependent on!! So be careful!
