So how I understand it, the straw purchase went into effect with the Gun Control Act of 1968, and the only way to end up in a courtroom over a Straw Purchase is if you knowingly bought the gun for someone that otherwise could not make the purchase. When skimming over the "straw purchase", it kind of leads you to think you can be in big trouble for buying a gun for your own teenage child, but after digging more, the DA would only have something with a "Straw Purchase" if you knowingly bought a gun for someone that no longer has the right to purchase a firearm.
Lol. Look, I know no one likes to say who's right or wrong in an internet argument. And I see that an argument will go no where when 2 people think they're right or wrong. However, You answered your own question. I could buy you drink in a bar, and you could buy yourself a drink in a bar. I'm doing a good will gesture by purchasing you a drink. No harm done. Now, if you were 16 years old, and I purchased you a drink, I would be in big trouble.
Now, if Michael Jackson could walk into a pharmacy and purchase propofol, and he overdosed, no problem. He's at fault. But a Doctor gave him propofol for no other reason than he was getting paid big money. That's not right

      Re: who's to blame?

i'm very fimiliar with the term "straw purchase" you should know that aom....thats if i supplied a gun too someone that wasnt able to get one otherwise, legaly. not just supplying a gun, as you refered too. i guess i could have assumed you meant to someone who couldnt otherwise get a gun...that would make sence, but at the time i read your post i wasnt thinking like that...i was thinking like me getting a gun from my dad...why the fuk would he think i was gonna off someone?? he wouldnt be held responcible...i'm not a criminal! i can go buy a gun if i want. i get your point now

          Re: who's to blame?

so it lies with the doctor administering the drugs?.. because a DUI wouldn't stick for buying a round of drinks.

Here's where I'm actually bothered. I get your point aom. I see where everybody jumps right on the doc, and that's exactly where it gets me. The doctor acted irresponsibly by administering the drug that Michael had been demanding from every person in the medical field that came within shouting reach. From what I understand, though, this doctor was new to Mike, and every person's needs are unique. That's why the doctor spread the meds out throughout 16hrs, or however long. He didn't know how the patient would respond. He actually stayed with the patient throughout this time, except for the moment his patient finally went to sleep after administering the drug the patient had been pleading for. Took a break to take a load off after a long night and morning, and "well, shit"...his damn jackass patient kicks the bucket.

I'm sure there are people that get scripts for way more than the 3 or 4 valiums or whatever he took. Their doc trusts them with 30-60 whatever count per month. This doctor actually gave Jackson the meds 1 at-a-time. That's acting very responsibly. I do agree, though, that the doc acted irresponsibly by giving in to the singer's needs, then hitting the head.

...I just got interupted for a while and lost it, but anyway, it gets me that people jump quickly on the doc. It's just how we're seasoned to place blame now-days. uck it...Mike's out..I'm tired.

            Re: who's to blame?

I guess the bottom line with this doc is that you dont ever give anyone propofol period.nly when your going under for surgery that there is the problem. No person should ever get ahold of this for recreational use for sleeping. no mater who you are. This doc is so screwed I think

              Re: who's to blame?

yeah, the doc is screwed. I wonder if they'll go after the means/methods/people that were involved in Mike becoming addicted to propofol for sleep. because he definitely had gotten used to it for sleep somehow. He was so familiar with it he called it his "milk". That was 1 ucked up unit. "my milk before bed"(high-pitched voice).
Anyone can tell you that it is not, by any means, good sleep that you get while under propofol. That's the stuff they use for most plastic surgery, endoscopies, etc...it doesn't quite put you all the way out. You can actually hear what's going on in the room. My wife had a rhinoplasty, and she said she could hear them talking during the surgery. (caution: a little graphic)
She could even feel the doc chiseling, and heard him ask for more vaccum because she had so much blood running down her throat. She said she could remember the smells, and alot of things during the surgery, and that's a pretty serious sergery. The doc has to open the face up, and reshape bone, cartilage, so on.
But, you may actually go to sleep good if someone's not operating on your body.
