Re: When is enough , enough? Help me decide, please!

Let me help ya feel a little less alone in that boat your in.

So, I had to run an errand early this morning. I'm talking to the greatest mom in the world on the phone as I'm returning home. I unlock the door, 'hmm, no Crash at the door waiting for me to walk up?.." Then, I open the door and see some feathers on the floor. I make my way around the corner of the foyer, and "holy shyt"...I remembered I was on the phone, so I tell my mother what I'm looking at. She says, "I'll let you go. Take pictures!" with an, I can't wait to see this, tone. I'm glad she did cause I would've never thought to take this picture.

    So...Here's my pillow...and it's contents.

It sounds like you've been through a lot with this dog, both good and bad. But there is still hope of correcting his behaviour.
Hey I appreciate that. Hes a really cool dog. I just dont know.

Re: When is enough , enough? Help me decide, please!

yeah. If I walked in to a chewed up helmet...I would be angry.

With the feather mess though, the wife and I just got to work, and within 20 minutes or so, it was back to normal. She still was wiping feathers from places up high you wouldn't think they would've reached, but the house is cleaner, now, than when I went to bed last night.

And as AV said. You can get his behavior under your complete control.

I'm a big fan of dogs and Animal Planet. I'm always watching that channel. I would suggest you invest in dog training courses. It could be possible that the previous owner of your dog had the same problems. I see stuff like this all of the time on Animal Planet's "It's Me Or The Dog".

I am thinking that too dave. helps me to know Im not being coldhearted by feeling the need to let him go. Like that show on animal planet that chose mentioned:"its me or my dog" well, the dog is controlling things right now and yes, there may be solutions, but I have as much to deal with right now as I ever have in my life and on top of it, here is this dog that goes berserk when I have to leave him to go take care of my life. Yep, this dog is totally fixable. Yes there is a price to pay in effort and $$$ to have him trained, etc....maybe at another phase inmy life I would fork out the dough and spend the time to train him. Honestly right now there are other issues in life going on and dog training is nt maybe where my energys and skills need to be applied...This may not make any sense to some animal lovers out there and they may be thinking "How could anyone be so cold as to think of giving away their dog?"...

Even to consider chaining him to something underneath the big trees during the day when Im gone. I used to think anyone who chains up a dog is cruel. Now I know its Its not always. Its called SURVIVAL. My fear there is that he is soo beastly determined and strong, that a chain, well, he would pull so hard it could seriously injure him. Maybe not. I dont know. A steel kennel has failed to contain him. That may be my next attempt is a big huge chain in the back yard. I do know that he will work non stop at getting loose. Non stop. I need to go to the bank and cash a check right now...I will probably leave him in th e car and leave the motor run and A-C running.

You should talk to your vet. They can give him some medicine for anxiety that might help. I know that sounds crazy, but they put my cat on some medicine because she was peeing on the floor and wouldn't use her litter box. I kept taking her in for bladder infections, because usually when a cat won't use the litter box it is because of an infection. They did test on her and found nothing wrong. After going back several times, the vet asked me what was going on in my life. I was totally stressed out because my job sucked and my ex-bf was stalking me among other things going on. She said that pets can sense our stress and take it on as well, so she gave her some meds and sure enough. She got better.

I don't know if this will help or not, but it's from the human society.

The Dog Whisperer, I watch that show all the time. He points out a lot of mistakes that people make with there dogs. One thing I remember him saying "if you put a dog in a crate, you only want a crate big enough that it can lay down in, not move around in".
If my dog acted that way in my house when I was gone, I would tie it up.
I tie my dog up on a dog run everyday when I go to work and turn it loose when I get home, that is his home when I'm not at home and he loves it out there. Doc if you decide to tie your dog up, get rid of that harness and get a choke chain, then it wont pull so hard because he's not going to like it at first. This is only going to solve your dog in the house problem, good luck.
"the Dog Whisperer" It's a good show for dog lovers.
