I'm not a money chaser - heck at times when I was hit pretty bad all I asked for was a repair of my car and paid doctors bills.
Looking back at one accident I should have spoken to a legal professional as I still have some issued from the severe whiplash my neck took.
The car had no headrest - 1966 Buick Skylark and I was hit nearly full speed 50+ ( I was stopped) from a VW Caribo that totalled both cars.
I settled out for a few grand for the car and a grand for the neck injuries.
I was young and had no thought about what may happen as I aged.
Other times I had a lawsuit laid on the table for me when Firestone in Laguna Hills did some shotty work and my car had the front control arm fall off and threw me and it into the ditch on the freeway. No injuries - simply fix my car properly. So I'm not a money chaser simply becasue it's there - just make sure you're taken care of the right way.
This accident however will have an impact on you now and forever in the future.
Especially with the fracture (arthritis) and the C3/C4 issue.
Make sure you talk to a lawyer as you will be affected by this as you age and no amount of money will ever change that.
So simply make sure you're taken care of properly and to your satisfaction.

great advice.
Was that car, by any chance, a chrysler/dodge product?

Nah - it was an old 1980 Chevy Citation.
This was about 17 years ago when I drove across country to meet up with a girl I was dating.
Long story but quite a good one.

right on. I ask because I had a brand new Dodge truck that by 26k miles, I think it was, the front ball joint just fell apart on the floor when the guy pulled the bolt out of it. It happened to 3 different Dodge trucks that I knew of in the company. These were all trucks though. You could tell when the front end was shot because it would get sloppy and pull all over the road. deadly. The techs in Kentucky that worked on one couldn't believe that I had made it from Atlanta like that.
yeah ill get it all taken care of.. we contacted an attorney yesterday. he said the same stuff document everything keep records.
I had a 71 skylark gs a few years ago. that car was bad. i came with a 350 and 3 speed on the tree. I cahnged it out to a chevy 350 bored .30 over and a turbo 400 trans.... I couldnt find any buick parts so i had to rebuild her chevy.
holy crap bro...like the others had said, it could have been alot worse. WTF passing on the right!!!what freakin country was this lady from?
take the advise above and document. worst case scenario this may take some time to settle and time is exactly what the insur company wants. thinks you'll forget some parts and/or settle just to get it over with.
