I just installed (myself) some of that fake wood flooring by ALLOC. The stuff is durable, realistic looking, and easy as hell to put down. And it has a padded underlay to cushion your tooshies. When one board get's boogered, you can disassemble it and replace then snap back together again.
I think natural hardwood dents too much etc.

I have 4,000 square feet of hardwood floors(37 year old house)that was all wall to wall carpet originally. Doesn't really affect the heating/cooling too much. Definitely keeps the house much cleaner. Wait until you pick up the carpet!
Have some nice area rugs to keep the noise down and feet warm. If you have only an oriented strand board (OSB ) or plywood sub floor and want to do a laminate floor the cost would be less than 3/4" select oak hardwood to install and finish. Only thing with pre-finished laminated you can only sand and refinish it once before it needs to be replaced. So be sure that you are makin the best of what that you have
the truth is all within yourself

I have modeled/stained conctrete throughout my apartment and that shit is COLD in the winter. I had to go buy some fuzzy slippers...The burden of originality is one that most people don't want to accept. They'd rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they are suppose to like, what they're suppose to buy, and what they're suppose to laugh at. You have Beavis and Butthead telling you what music you're allowed to like and not like, and you've got sitcoms that have canned laughter that lets you know when to laugh if you're too stupid to know when the joke is. People are too lazy and too stupid to think for themselves because America has raised them that way.
