Re: Opinions on Tats and Piercings in a professional job

yeah, you have to put your well-being first and foremost. She, being pierced and tatted to hell and back is messing with your well being. As well as her's. In the professional world, as others have said, it just has limits on that. People have become more comfortable with tattoos. but not all over the place.
There are professions where that's widely accepted, and the ones that don't quite accept them. It can hurt business no matter how good of an employee one is.

I wish it didn't make a shyt because I'd be tatted up. But in my career path, I can't be sleeved up with shyt on the backs of my hands and sides of my neck and shyt. It just don't fly. No matter how fly it is.

when youre dealing with college educated people, You had better believe it makes a HUGE difference in how they are perceived. Much of what she is going to be doing is dealing wityh extreme professional people. When someone talks in double negatives, it is aHUGE sign that that person doesnt have much education.
I will bet you a hundred dollars that english teacher didnt speaK IN DOUBLE NEGATIVES. And I will GUARANTEE the english teacher notices it in other people. Im not saying anyone is offended or put off, it just doesnt instill confidence. Read "The One Thing You cannot Hide" by Earl Nightengale...it may change your attitude about horrible grammar in business.

Ok, I dont have no more time to talk about this...LOL

        100% agreed.
the really good thing is that she dresses extremely professional. That really helps. I dont have to have a talk with her on that issue. But I did bring the tats up tonight. She says she can take em all out except the nose. so thats cool. I just asked her how important it is to her to wear the piercings.
This girl has some real potential. Very clean. very likeable. attractive. very fit. Funny thing is I have a 60 year old woman who really wants the job and she was head of HR for a Major Corporation. No piercings there.LOL

she has to realize that with that get up it will limit her in her professional endevors. she may be great but you just have to wonder if she dosnt care enough to take out the rings in her face than is she really gonna commit to the job 100% . i would love to have a sleeve but it is frowned upon in my position so i dont. i coose my career over my desire for a tattoo

Personally, I would think the poor grammar would be more of an issue then the piercings--If you deal with people as you major job function, then speaking poorly is NOT doing you job well.

In sales, don't you even adjust your grammer, accent, and all around demeanor at times?..according to the customer?

Dave- your talking car salesmen and we're talking suit and tie professional office- little difference there. Now nothing against your line of work- I work in the Petro-Chemical industry and at my level- grammar is not a big deal, but up the pole a bit- it does matter

Re: Opinions on Tats and Piercings in a professional job

Good gosh grammar is essential if you want to reach the pantheon in a corporate world. Not all fields of business require it. Listen to people like Ross perot and T Boone Pickens...they have redneck accents but rarely spew bad grammar. Bill Gates never went to college but his grammar is pretty darn perfect. Its not a snobby thing at all. Its just good communication skills. Like I said, listen to the tape by Earl Nightengale called 'The One Thing You can Not Hide"...That tape changed my life in the 80s and I made sure I learned some decent english and vocabulary. I know I still suck at some things in english. spellin shit wrong and what not.But If I have to listen to someone speaking in double negatives and they represent my enterprise, then its like fingernails on a chalkboard...Imagine a girl standing up in a business luncheon and she has a sniffle and says "I dont got no tissue. Can I borrow some? Oh, you dont got no tissue either, damn, nodody here gots any tissue"...so Fired! Lmao!!!
